It is no longer possible to deny the fact that the world is changing around us and rock music, is changing with it.
I'm sure many musicians and music enthusiasts have noticed a change in pretty much any of their favorite artists that are currently active, but the question is, as new and upcoming artists, what should we do to appeal to the new world? Sell out and download Virtual DJ and start calling ourselves DJ's? Or adapt?
As much as I would like to think that the majority of us would prefer to stay true to our Rock 'n Roll roots, I think we've reached a point where as a new artist, it's getting harder and harder to find a place in the industry without some techno/Dubstep sounds peeking out between guitar riffs.
Hardcore fans would love one's heart and drive to stay true, but how many of us are left? Are there enough to create a proper fan base? Will future and current rock fans want to listen to our DS1 pedals? Or will they want to listen to the former Punk band, who are currently using synth drum loops and vocal effects?
Personally, I think we should stay true as Rock artists and keep the flame alive, but the Cold Fact is, we might not be able to.
What is your opinion?
