I performed today at my dad's work; previous perfo
Current mood: tired
Just wanted to let you guys know that I played for my dad's "Staff Appreciation Day." I played on my Les Paul and thanked everyone there (cause they all had voted for me during the contest.)
It was fun but the Texas heat is just horrible.
I also wanted to mention the time I played at my history teacher's reception and after party on her wedding day. It was really similar to today, except my teacher's son also performed. (He plays drums, and I think he's 19 or 20.)
I earned $55 tips that night. I couldn't believe it. It was offiially my first paying "gig." I spent that $55 at Guitar Center later that week.
I really hope I can continue to perform at places so I can be ready for something big! xD
Hopefully I can get a band going so I won't be a solo act
Hey guys I wanted to let you guys know I'm going to start making more videos soon for my YouTube Channel.
If you have any requests such as how to play a song, a technique question, a gear question, I will happily (eventually) make a video for you!
So just request away!
New YouTube Video: How To Play: Sweet Child O' Min
I made a new video this week on how to play Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses. It's pretty fast for beginners so make sure to pause, rewind, and review so you can get the licks down. Also, play along with the CD to to get the timing down!
I went to Guitar Center today hoping to test out some multi-effect processors. I don't have any money to buy one, but at least I can find what I want to save up for.
So I showed up there hoping I could test out the BOSS, Digitech, and Line6 multi-effect processors. The only (working) ones they had on demo were the BOSS.
I really liked the BOSS GT-10 (But who wouldn't, its $500!) It had alot of great effects and features and the distortions didnt sound too bad.
Right below it was the BOSS ME-50. From what I had been told, I had expected alot of great things. It didn't turn out as expected.
I mean, it was pretty good for the price, but just as most digital effects go, the distortion sounds pretty digital.
I can't say anything about Digitech or Line6 yet, cause either the demos weren't working or there weren't any.
So hopefully I can test those out some day.
Anyway, If you have any suggestions for a multi-effect processor, please tell me!
Hey guys it's July 4th! Happy Independence Day to you guys that live in America!
Fly your flags high; show your American pride; be proud to be an American!
Red, white, and blue!
Remeber those who fought for our freedom and who are still currently fighting everyday! Support our troops!
God bless!
My grandparents came into town yesterday for Independence Day. My grandmother and I went to half price books. I found the Slash autobiography and Led Zeppelin IV! I was really shocked; I didn't think they'd have and old Led Zeppelin LP.
I need to start reading my Slash autobography.
For some reason my high school is requesting that we read a biography or autobiography over the summer to be ready for some project my Freshman year.
So, I thought it was a cool chance to read Slash. He's awesome btw!
Yeah, and I don't like to read, but since the book is about Slash, it won't be as painful.
lol
I'm looking for a good multi-effects processor. I personally would rather have individual analog stompboxes, but with a micro-sized budget, I'll have to settle with a multi-effect.
Now I'm a huge fan of BOSS pedals. I'm looking for a nice processor that has that vintage crunch like a BOSS.
I play Classic Rock, Blues, Rock, Southern Rock, Alternative, Punk, some jazz, and I make a few home recordings here and there. I'm also forming a band with some friends. I'm really limited on my sounds and I'd like to have a good variety. Now I've talked with a lot of people about different effect processors and I think I've narrowed down my selection to the BOSS ME-50 and the Digitech RP500.
Both processors have some great specs and sounds, but there are some disadvantages to both of them. Here's what I'm thinking:
-The Boss ME 50 has been said to have a bad delay between switching effects. That won't be good for live shows.
- The Digitech's in general sound digital (hence their name) and I want a good analog sound quality, not some digital sound.
-The Boss me 50 hass quite a bit of BOSS distortions (check mark)
- The BOSS doesn't have that great of a wah
- The digitech hass BOSS distortions and many many others, along with a library of effects. (check check check)
- The digitech has a VOX and Dunlop Crybaby Wah (check check check)
So here I am not able to make up my mind.
I would like to hear your opinions so I can make the right desicion. (Thanks to those who have already shared w/ me)
So, please, just comment on this blog and let me know what's the best "bang for your buck". And if there are better deals out there please let me know. Thanks, I appreciate it.
The contest was for Slash fans to make a video explaining why you deserved his new signature VOS guitar. I instantly thought of making a parody music video. But with lack of time, I had to settle with a cheesy, boring explanation video.
I had the idea of doing a parody to Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses and I began jottin down lyrics for why I deserved the guitar. Eventually when I had the time, I made an embarassing video (cause I sang in it) for the contest called (Please, Slash) Can I Have Your Les Paul? I created the video with a camcorder, a used multi-track recorder, two mics from Walmart, a home-made blue screen, Flash, and of course, my instruments.
I submitted the video with a confident atittude. As the days passed, I was surprised to see how many good videos were submitted to the contest.
Eventually, the submition day passed. A few days later the Gibson YouTube Channel messaged me via YouTube telling me that I had made it to the next round. They also said they had so many submissions, the had lost my e-mail adress.
At first I thought it was a scam. But I gave them my e-mail anyway...
Several days passed and the finalists were posted. Voting for your favorite video began. So, I e-mailed everybody I knew, who e-mailed everybody they knew, and so on. I even got my teachers to spread the word throughout my school. Pretty soon I had a little slice of the world voting for me. :P
I got ahead in the votes for a while. But after a few days, some one (not gonna point the finger) started to thumbs down everybody's video but there's. So, everybody's video percentages (including mine) went way down. I got pretty frustrated with the voting system. I re-emailed everyone and got everybody on the voting rampage again. Click after click and eventually my percentages got back to the top.
When the voting finally closed, I was well in the lead. I couldn't believe how much everyone had helped me. (Thanks guys)
At the time, (Even though I had won in votes), I didn't think Gibson was going to decide the winner strictly on the votes or voting percentages. So I was not sure one bit who had one.
Many many more days later, Gibson called and informed me that I HAD WON! And to make the long story short, many many weeks later, I recieved the guitar!
It's a great guitar, and its anything you could ever ask for! Thanks everyone for making my dream guitar a reality!
