Just got my first Strat. It is a 06 Eric Clapton Signature model replica 62 blackie. it is awesome, sounds great and a heck of a deal. I have now got my top three, but i guess not really as my les paul is a edwards but close enough. lol. so wicked Ibanez, page 59 recreation Edwards, and the Clapton Strat. Still looking for that acoustic, but what ever. No more guitars for awhile, now on the hunt for a killer deal on a 15-30 watt amp. Got a couple leads on a Peavey Classic 30. After that, i mean like a year from now, a half stack and head unit. killer, can not wait.
so i switched. which is a good thing. a bit to swallow as i am back learning at square one, but to stay focused and positive that i will improve my skills. the shitty thing is that i have a new role at work which takes me away a bit more and thus i dont play for a week and missing my lesson. leaning to read music for real and better techniques to improve speed and sound and am confident that this is a good thing. it is tuff to find make up lessons but hopefully it is not to much for the teacher or myself to figure out. i dont know if i have noticed a difference yet, but this is only 6 lessons in maybe 7. he said i should notice a cleaner sound within 3 months. i started with him before december but with the holidays 3 lessons were skipped and recently i have been good for 2 weeks in a row, missing all of the lessons and most importantly playing my guitar period. so bully for me and i hope it turns out for the good.
so done this book. Really great book, a ton of things i did not know or expect from elton. most for the good. the book starts off as most do in Reg's childhood but nice progresses to the start of his musical dream and road to becoming Elton. Nice to read that he took control of his career with a short temper, to my surprise. He doesnt appear to be a ticking bomb, but he is! he doesnt hind this trait which shows the character his enbodies. A straight shooter, but strugles with his own self. Resulting in self harm such as drugs, and sexually promisquist and confusion on his own sexuallity. A couple things i didnt like was the dismisal of the band or bandmates so randomly and the expect for them to come back at his word. poor show for that. also the fact that he really is a pampered person, a bit more in control now due to the years where he tail spinned in the items he required send him into financial trouble. he still is very pampered in his life but this is curved by the heart that elton shows for numberous charities and friends he encounters. even little guest appearances that normal joes ask for his help, he is glad to do something for them by a song or two or items to auction. gift to freinds of great valve. good show Reg.
book is a great read and even if you do not like his music it is a good infomational book about a musician of huge magnatuide.
so again i forgot about this blog. but done the Keef book and it is great. Some really good accounts from his life and his views on certain areas of interest. not to much about the drug habits, just what he was doing but no dirt. It is funny because I have read a couple Mick bios and now the Keef (all unofficial) and they both say the same thing. When he was away I ran the band and without me and my lyrics the Stones would be shit. LOL. really, mick said while keef was high, in jail and planning a party Mick held the band together and escalated them to super stardom. But now reading the Keef, he said that even when he was high he still wrote all the songs and produced the records. and when Mick was doing the solo thing, well Keef was doing it all. the only thing keef wanted no part of was the marketing and design of clothes, merchandise and stages. he left that to charlie and mick. funny really, they both claim the same thing. but all in all the book was good, explained some the songs, possible true meanings of songs and when the were wrote and chord choices. nothing to boring. good stuff, good read. cheers Keef
Well I have kinda forgot about this, now. Wow have you had so many things to do in a day you let things slip? It is like you have a list of "thing I must do everyday". Like look in here, hotmail, gym, guitar, diary, read, news, bills, etc. Anyways I cant remember the last book i blogged about but reading Keith Richard unoffical bio right now, half way done and it is very good. Just bought a whole lot of bios from amazon so I am set for a bit. I think the last bio I read was the Clapton. Then I tackled some history and self help books. Gotta mix it up.
The guitar playing is going good, getting better. But just when you think you are getting good u tackle something that knocks you down. My teacher and me and going through tapping. I said lets learn Eruption. Well the tapping is ok but the 5 fret streach sucks. oh well i get it with some practice.
Is it selfish to think you are getting better? I hope not cause I am getting better. not saying good, but better. Finallly have got the teacher showing me music theroy and stuff like that to get my technique better. thus improving my guitar. like i said before, i thought i was paying him to tab shit out for awhile. now i think he is going to start "teaching" me. I can figure out tabs/songs myself now. a couple bumps but listen to the original, guitar pro, you guys gives me the resources to figure it out. i have to ask him about what i call music theory stuff. but even how i play is better. i can figure songs out quicker and then get them sounding ok rather quickly. i just have not taken that step to get the songs i know sound good or great. i think that will come with developing technique. my scale play is good, fast, semi accurate. even my soloing or free styling off the scales with extension is getting better. not just "flailing" around the fret board. hit notes with purpose. even the dreaded power chords that i had issue with has worked it way out. they are getting better, sound clearer, easier to move around. i also can sit longer, practicing with the guitar. before i had very little to practice. now with all the scales i know, the extension off those scales and now not being "scared" to figure out songs (no matter what it is). yes UG, i am getting better. maybe one day i can come out my shell and play for people....
finally got the mic on my laptop working so i can start posting my terrifc skills; rrrrigggghtttt. wow that was a lie. off work all this week so will hammer out some stuff hopefully. just to say i posted them, but good gravey they are not that good so no flack, cause i know i anit that good ... yet!
I cried when Dave cried.
Holy shit, not the full concert but they say their will be a dvd out near x-mas. no matter where it is realease, i am buying it. no matter how my hundreds of dollars, it will be mine. was it just me or even though I knew Jimmy Page and JPJ were coming out, I got so excited I could even sit in my chair, got flushed, screamed and could not contain myself. You could see that Dave turned into a fan right there and just lived a dream he never thought would ever come true. Kudos Mr. Grohl!
It is my second time watching it now on MSN, cant wait for the dvd so I can blast it on the home stereo and big screen. It reminds me so much of when i seen them this year on tour. Best concert ever, and I have seen my fair share of them, big and small.
When Dave got all choked up, can you image how he felt. He has talked about it for ever that he is a huge Zeppelin fan, and how much he like British Rock and artists. Holy shit, cant image. I just hope the dvd is the full concert or one has a chance to buy the extended version so you can see the whole concert. they usually play like 2+ hours.
Now lets go to bed with power chords dancing in my head!
Hey all this is a really good book. Unauthorized books kinda suck can instead of actually words from the artist it is quotes taken from here and there. But beyond that it is very good, tells you from the begining now of Mr. Jimmy Page.
Not to boring are the beginning, which I am not a fan of bio's that tell of a childhood half the book, unless it is an ram-packed action childhood. This one gets farily quickly into the meat, Jimmy and his guitar. Of all of his jobs, bands, compelations etc. Even tells a bit about Jimmy and his family, not much.
All in All it is a good book to get to know how Page started as one of the worlds greatest guitarist. I really wish Mr. Page would do a biography but lets all hope he is far to busy for that preparing for an up coming tour with Led Zeppelin. Please, please, please.
Good Buy, Good Read and best of all it was authored by a Canadian, eh!
So I am trying to find what I have been looking for for years now which is a canvas picture of the God Jimmy Page. Really or Abstract, just want something that appeals to me. Hark, I have seen two that I like but they are in the UK. So bottom line is it is going to cost like $200 for both to come over here without there frames. So onto off everything, I then will have to pay for a pro to frame these puppys up. But really they are brillant, both show his les paul, dragon-ish costumes, one with the "lazer pyramid" and the other with an abstract background. As well looking on the artists site i could also get what i have been hunting for which is the beatles picture of them on the walkway to apple studios on abby road. as a really nice cobain too. anywho, but before i do that i need to get the clutch done on my car, then i can look at buy some art. i guess i could frame it, i think i might know someone who could help me as they worked in a framers store for awhile. no lessons for awhile as school is on holidays for 3 weeks, so want to try to finish entersandman and solo and polish it, then work on glycerin and a nirvana song (dont know which one yet). i was think about under the bridge too. i need to clean up my power chords, i am moving them faster but they sound like crap alot. lol. i am going to see if barring them will work instead of fretting them. if i did enter up getting those art prints, i have even picked out a wall for them. take down the crap on there now, paint it black and put them up. or maybe grey, ah no, black. though that will not make the pictures POP out very much... we will see.
