AWESOME ALBUM!

and i'm majoring in Electromechanical Engineering, i have 5 years of school ahead of me... should be fun

Cool dude. Engineering's personally way too much math for me, but if that's what you like, go for it.

And, It's probably going to be fun dude. I mean, sure college is a lot of work and all, but there's a whole ton of stuff to do to keep you entertained. Are you like going to be in any clubs or anything?

And, where are you going to school at?

i want to, i was thinking about getting modern harmony (quartal, modal and that stuff)

i actually found a teacher but i just didn't want to go at that time... not that i've just got into college (i'll begin on august 24th) i'll see if i have time and the teacher is still available

btw, have you ever heard of the album "no pussyfooting" by eno and fripp?

Well frankly , I have no idea what quartal is, haha.

As for college, that's cool, what are you majoring in?

And no, is it good?

mainly improvosation (leaning toward jazz mainly) and whatever classical i can find, not classical guitar, but like bach compositions....

and i currently play in some kind of alternative/experimental band, so i'm trying to get more sounds out of my guitar... and now that you say it, i'm really influenced by king crimson (robert fripp rulzz)

Awesome dude. I get told my improv sounds quite jazzy too, ha. So do you like have formal training in Jazz?

And, I couldn't agree more. Fripp is an amazing guitarist. He's one of the best prog guitarists of all time imo.

not good, it's a pain in the ass cause the sheet music is a mess...

http://www.mutopiaproject.org/ftp/BachJS/BWV1001/b wv-1001_2/bwv-1001_2-a4.pdf

and i get so confused by the crossing voices, i'm not sure what belongs to which voice :S.... i had 30 bars trascribed but i shall begin again... at least it helps to improve my reading...

what about you man?

Wow, bro. That looks pretty crazy.

As of late, I've been learning a bunch of Progressive Metal and Rock songs. Just a few of them are, Leica by The Faceless, Spoils by Protest The Hero, And 21st Century Schizoid Man by the awesome King Crimson. Right now I'm finishing "Crystal Skull" by Mastodon. I know it's not the most techy song, but it's pretty fun to play :D.

What do you normally learn/play?

and well since... the quartet is (supossedly) going to play/record it, i need the pdf files... but i've got no idea of how to convert it from sibelius to pdf

do you?
Well if you're using OSX, when you click Print, there is an option to save as PDF.

For Windows, I think you need a third party program to do it...which really sucks.

This time I'll send you the copy though.

could you help me turning a midi file (or sibelius file if you want) into a more realistic sound?

i wrote an arragement for string quartet of one of my band's song, and the guitarist's brother (who plays cello) told me that they (he and his quartet) could record it.... but i really want to hear it...

can you do that?
I can give it a shot, although nothing beats a live performance, especially for string instruments.

Send me the file to xwan@berklee.net

just kidding in the thread :P

but seriously... what have you scored? movies or what?

and we need to talk about those vst plugins
Well I haven't scored for an actual video media yet, but I CAN!!!!! I've done a few orchestral scores for practice already though.

These VST's that I'm talking about are mainly built into Logic Pro and Reason 4. Others in my library include Native Instrument's Guitar Rig 3 (SO BADASS) and Akoustik Piano. I have the London Strings sound library as well, which sounds pretty pristine.

Thanks. And yeah, I did. Of all the video game music I've heard, I think Zelda's music sounds the best on a classical instrument.
