Hey bro, how have you been. Hope summer vacaycay was jolly. I've stopped coming to UG almost entirely - still do once every few days to scope it out for a minute. I went on vacation for a couple of months and am gonna be back home in a week and looking for a good job to take up. I don't really internet much anymore - don't figure I'll see much increase in usage either.

School started yet?
Summer was good.

I started school last week. I'm doing great in Computer Science, but Calculus scares me a bit lol

Hope you find a great job! :)

Does weed grow free on the streets of Jamaica as I have been told it does?

Just seeing this...nah man, its illegal here, its just that police don't really care if you smoke it, they only give a crap if you're trying to move large quantities

So you were actually a Davis townie?

I actually was! I went to elementary school there. I'm guessing you went/go to UCD?

And yes, that is my hamster in a Sharks jersey because her name is Cheechoo :3 I drew it for an invitation for her formal presentation to my friends.

You suck.
Not really.
You are one of my favorite Pit Monkeys.

Hey man, thanks for introducing me to Moebius' illustrations in your sig. The weird space cowboy explorer ones... they are incredible. I'm gonna have fun exploring the rest of his collection over the years.

Nice, most of his collections are out of print/rare except for Incal, but you might want to try this site: http://theairtightgarage.tumblr.com/ it has scans of pretty much everything (in a random order though)

Yeah, I'd given up on it because most other people stopped using it, but it was a good chat platform that "raised us" kinda like Windows 95/98 did. Don't have facebook or anything else like that, so I don't computer chat with anyone anymore lol.

How's your math adventure going?

I just got accepted into the honors program for my school, so things are going...swimmingly.

How are things on your end?

Not for the past few years.

You should get a knowledge that encompasses both software and hardware, if you're going for the tech route, so get dual degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Don't be afraid of the course load - just enjoy whatever you learn, ask questions, get help if you need it, and you'll be fine. You'll come out more satisfied with a knowledge that covers everything from silicon to high level distributed computing.
Well, I've been taking Intro to Electrical and Computer Engineering and it's been going awful so far. I just got one of my quizzes back and I failed. Not only that, but I hate the course.

On the contrary, I love my Intro to Java course. I got an assignment back last week and I got 96 percent on it. So I really need to know: Should I stick with programming? Or should I still be considering the Electrical and Computer Engineering degree? Do I even have a choice in this case?

Thank you :)

Welcome all knowledge, dread none. Follow that rule and you'll shine.
I've never thought about it that way. Still, I can't help but be a little nervous about what I have to learn. I mean, I'm pretty horrendous at math. I love programming, though. I guess you can't have programming without the math, eh? :(

darkstar2466 wrote on Feb 14th, 2012 at 3:20pm :
You need to master differential, integral, vector, and multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. Regardless of anything else, it's all very important knowledge. If you are going to be doing computer graphics, linear algebra is the foundation of matrices and transformations.
Well, I'm not sure which field of computer science/programming/engineering I want to major in. Maybe you can help me choose? (I'm also a bit interested in hardware)

What is your major?

Started any programming classes yet?
Only 1: Introduction to Java. I've a bit experienced with C and C++ so this class is going easy for me. Although I'm worried about the amount of math I need to know. What are the most important areas of math for Software Engineering/Computer Programming?

Good to hear. I'd stopped using UG over 08-10 when I had to concentrate on school a bunch, but while I'm unemployed again, it's great fun.

Life's good - on the job market now. It's kind of crappy, but there are some good prospects. Still play the guitar most days, but I don't come up with new stuff that often. =\

Yeah I play once in a while too. I'm in acting school though that has really taken over from music for me.....for the time being anyway haha.
