I just read some thread about writing blogs and I thought "hey, I should go write a blog of my own." So here, I present you a blog regarding malls and the consumer-whore culture.
I was never really a mall person. The only reason I would ever go to a mall was to buy blank boards from one of the skate stores in the mall, because the blanks were only $20, as opposed to the pro-graphic boards which were $50. Even as a child, going to the mall gave me a feeling of dread; I never liked being in the mall due to some uncomfortable feeling that I could never explain (until now).
In recent times, as I have arranged my priorities and philosophized about my basic necessities in life and consumerism/materialism, I have realized that the reason I hate the mall so much is because there are thousands of mindless consumer-whores walking around buying stuff they don't need. This is not to say that I don't buy stuff I don't really "need," but I am talking about people who walk around the mall aimlessly, going from store to store, wasting precious life-minutes in buying clothes and accessories that are completely unnecessary to their existence.
Sadly, this is what fuels the economy, and I find it pathetic.
I guess I could write more, but I'm lazy, so this is all you get.
Yeah, for me too. I´ve never like shopping too much, unless I really need something for example new shoes ´cos my toes are sticking out from the old ones. I feel uncomfortable in malls usually. Because there are always people like you described buying things and knowing their stuff. And I feel lost. ^^
Good point, man. The only reason I ever go to a mall is to either buy a band shirt, or to get a present for someone that I can't find at Wal-mart. It's an annoying place because of the hordes of zombies, but I find that there's some stuff that's hard to find anywhere else (well, since I can't order stuff off the internet).
The only reason I ever go to the mall is for the badass CD store there. Even though they're expensive, they've got some great stuff. Other than that, I rarely ever go.
Oh yeah, and I like the over-abundance of hot chicks at the mall.
I see where you're coming from, though i don't necessarily agree with you. A lot of people enjoy just random shopping, and if they enjoy it, how is it a waste? A lot of people would say the same thing about skateboarding or guitar.
^ It's blatant consumerism, wasting cash which can be better spent by improving someone's life. Buying things is a sad replacement for the creativity and energy present in skating and playing guitar (or any musical instrument).

Anyhoo. You get dikudos. Two kudos, that is.
Well, I guess one could argue that by buying stuff a person wants, they are bettering their life. I would disagree, but I am just saying.
