Has it occurred to anyone that Obama's really just getting shafted in the presidential election, simply because of things beyond his control? He's black, and he's got a funny name. All his problems stem from that. It's hard to find a conversation online about Obama that doesn't include some reference by a dumb troll saying that he's a Muslim, or a terrorist, or the Antichrist. Really? No presidential candidate has before been said to be any of those things. Not even Kerry, and he got really screwed over by the Swift Boaters for Asshattery. So seriously, what is this crap? I'll tell you. He's black and foreign. As much as we love to say that racism is dead, it's not. Obama's race and background is a big negative for (if I remember correctly) around 10% of Americans. That's from a Newsweek poll, and I'd not be surprised if that number is lower than it should be, because nobody likes to admit their racism. Regardless, it's a factor when it really shouldn't be. People are scared of him, because they're idiots. That's the plain and simple. If you support McCain because Obama is black or named Hussein or because you think he's Muslim, you are the worst class of person. I would love to be friends with any of the worst Pit trolls than you. Now, realistically, let's imagine if Obama was white. He'd have, maybe, another 5% of the American populace's vote, just cos of that. What the hell, America? Anyway. He's the young, smart, eloquent candidate, running against a supposedly more experienced older dude who isn't as well-spoken. Any parallels to the 1960 election with Kennedy and Nixon? Yep. Obama is our Kennedy, McCain is their Nixon. There are differences, as well, but in terms of personality of the candidates there's a good deal of similarity. What happened in the 1960 election was that people voted for Kennedy, cos he was better looking, better sounding, and younger. Same thing would happen for Obama if he didn't have the handicap of people's fear of his skin color and name. The man really has everything going for him. He's got a good Senate record, with no scandals to his name. There's nothing you can attack the man for as an ad hominim. Nothing. The only thing the McCain campaign can do is hope that our United States idiots are still scared of black people, and that they can continue to paint him as an elitist. A quick note on the elitist thing. McCain has seven freakin' houses. He's a rich sod from an old family. Obama was raised by a single mum in Jakarta, with no biological father. McCain is worth $40.4 million. Obama is worth $1.3, 3.2% of that. Before Clinton's campaign decided to tag Obama as a rich, out-of-touch politician, he was seen by everyone as a populist. I blame Hillary Clinton for that, and if Obama loses, it's her fault just as much as the racists and idiots. So suck it, smear campaigners. So as you can see, Obama's being boned by idiocy, and nothing more than that. Rumors, untruths, and sticky tags like "elitist". What is this? What the fuck? I'm pissed off about it, especially because McCain will probably win. McCain will win, I'll piss myself, the people of the US and the world will go even further down the tubes, and shit will be bad. I'll see you in Switzerland, my good friends.
I agree. You know what else annoys me though? Everyone says 'muslim' as if it's a bad thing. So much for freedom of religion, huh? Muslim is not synonymous with terrorist.
I'm just going to totally give up on people if McCain is elected.

Oh yes, I'm fully with you on the Muslim thing. It's annoying, though, because I feel like I'm insulting Muslims when I defend Obama from claims that he is. It's as if to answer the claims that he is a Muslim is to agree that being Muslim is bad, or even important at all. Ugh, I will move to Switzerland if McCain is elected. Or Australia, or Spain, or I'll form a new island nation in the Mediterranean somewhere.
I support Obama, but there are way more reasons than being black that someone wouldn't support him bro. The people who won't vote for him because he's black, wouldn't vote democrat anyway. If you can't find an internet argument against him for more reasons than muslim or black, you spend too much time on UG :

Oh yeah, I know. But most of those reasons are what I'd consider legitimate. A staunch conservative wouldn't vote for Obama, black or white, because he's for abortion and things of that sort. But the reasons I'm talking about are the completely ridiculous reasons for people not supporting him.
