Hey UG. I'm just going to talk about how most people are to impress by playing guitar. Here's the story. I'm in Grade 8 and we're doing small group songs for our strings music (violin, viola, cello and double bass only.) I play double bass but since my group decided to play Canon In D, I didn't want to play the bass cause it's too damn easy. So the teacher let us play other instruments, so I've been bringing my guitar in. I'm insanely good compared to the other two people who brought in their guitars and everyone is always so impressed by some really dumb things. While the group was discussing something and everyone stopped playing, I just muted all the strings and strummed (kind of like the intro to Voodoo Child but with no wah.) Two girls in the group thought that was pretty much the coolest thing ever. Another thing I did was play the solo in Crazy Train. Even though the first tapping part is really awesome and fast, one girl thought that the little lick played at 2:50 was awesome. That took no skill at all. Bend up on the 9th fret on the G string (haha G-String,) hit the 10th on the B and the 9th on the G again. It's pretty crazy how easy people are to impress. Reactions?
I know exactly what you mean. On Ultimate Guitar i feel like such a noob but playing to
people my age that don't play guitar makes me feel so much better :)
Yeah.. know what you mean.
When I bring my acoustic to school, and play Dust in the Wind(Kansas) .. everyone just stares, even though it's like.. the simplest finger-picking song ever..
people who aren't musically inclined aren't ignorant. just because it comes easy or naturally to you doesn't mean it does for everyone else, so of course if they don't know how to do something or understand its complexities are going to be very easily impressed.
"That took no skill at all."
yes it did. no one can pick up a guitar for the first time ever and do that.
"I only know one person who has said that they play guitar who is actually good."
