PEAVEY . XXX - high gain, yet versatile, tank. Comes in head, or discontinued combos of 112 & 212.
Pros-
versatile, can easily cover anything from clean blues, to metal
combo comes in handy for mobility, while retaining great wattage & volume on tap
switchable from 6l6GC to EL34
Cons-
Ultra channel sounds 'thin' compared to the Crunch channel.
Crunch channel is incredibly warm (to some, it can be pro)
drop in channel volume when switching from Ultra or Crunch to Clean
No reverb on head JSX - mid to high gain, uber versatile 'hot-rodded XXX' amp. Head or 212.
Pros-
Even nicer cleans than XXX
comes stock with EL34's, but switchable from 6L6 or EL34
pulls off rock - hard rock easily
'Fat' switch
Ultra Channel isn't as thin as XXX
Cons-
Not as much gain as XXX
Built in Noise Gate doesn't really cut all noise
Some users find 6L6's more modern sounding
not best choice if your looking for the heaviest metal amp ever 6505/5150 - highest gain metal amp originally designed by EVH. comes in head or 212.
Pros-
popular metal tone
more than enough gain on tap
can clean up for classic rock tones, (i.e. Van Halen [Brown Sound])
Excellent Chug and low end
Cons-
At lower volumes it tends to get incredibly fizzy
Tone can get muddy due to the amount of gain
It's cleans, to some, seem sterile or weak with no definition
A Noise-Gate is a must for metal
some users like having 3 independent channels 6505+/5150II - 6505 only with improved cleans and added features.
Pros-
Improved cleans
a tad less fizzy at lower volumes
6 12AX7 tubes as opposed to the 6505's 5
Cons-
still without 3 independent channels
Noise Gate may still be needed
a bit less gain than 6505
3120 - Very similar to both the XXX & JSX, with added features. Currently only available as head Pros- 3 separate channels Improved tonal characteristics of Lead (Ultra) channel Similar versatility as JSX but w/ more gain Cons- No reverb Comes with free Peavey cab that isn't very good Vypyr tube 60 - tube version of the SS Vypyr models Pros- Incredibly versatile Lots of different amp models Has built in rack effects, effects, Overdrives, etc. Tuner Tube model is more punchy and has more bass response than SS models
Cons- Can be difficult to work with due to all of the effects and knobs
....more to come....

pretty good. See if you can try a Vypyr 60. Classic 30 and Valveking would be worth mentioning too. Funny how you have the free cab under the cons of the 3120. I agree. I tell people to sell that cab and get a decent 212.
