17 living in the UK. Played guitar back when i was 9, gave up when I was 11. I had no real taste in music back then, I just listened to whatever I could find.
Over the summer of 09 though, I made some new friends, who showed me the wonders of METAL!!! I now love metal, some rock, and a few other things too. With this new inspiration i took my guitar out of the attic again and started to learn and within a week I was better than I was after 2 years of practice before. About 2 months in however it appeared that no one we knew could play bass, and we had 3 guitarists, so me being the rythm guitarist picked up bass, or started to practice bass tab on my guitar until I could afford my base which i will be buying within the next week
I am still new and still only playing by tab, but my novice singer friend and friends that are a guitarist and drummer hope to establish a band, as soon as me and the singer are good enough for it. Thank you all here, because were it not for your tabs I would still be stuck playing useless things from 50 year old books.
Thanks to everyone here for making tabs which has trained my ear as slowly start to correct them in my head, allowing me now to do some tabbing myself and even write a few songs. I started recording with my bass a few weeks ago and have a few of my own songs along with an album I am doing based around the idea of Slash's "Slash and friends" album in which you will hear me but also loads of different people playing other instruments from harmonica's to guitars and a couple of singers to. So thats what I have been up to since I started, and now I have my eyes set on an acoustic bass followed up by learning harmonica and keybord and writing a ton of songs to thank you all for helping me so so much.
The and Friends album was scrapped due to the friends not really wanting to do much, but thats fine as I learnt a ton of new songs and got software that let me loop a drumbeat effect created with my bass overtop. Bought myself an awesome Semi-Acoustic Bass which is so fun to play and when I learn enough on it I will use it to produce another album. Now I can tune by ear, starting to add more bits, and tab the occational song, you guys providing m with tabs here is what ive learnt from, Im self taught, and its been thanks to all of you! Life is going well, very well, so well I am quite busy and dont get time to jam properly. But on the horizon my band "Common Mistakes" should be recording at the lastest in September
