What tunings are best for what style of music?
I want to tune my guitar so that I don't do much finger work. The standard EADGBe tuning is rather annoying because there are hardly any chords where you could just play single fingered. I have found that DGDGBd tuning does this well. play every string open and you have a G major chord.

use any open tuning and that will keep you using 1 finger. check out john butler he uses open c and capos a lot. but also the thing about learning to play in an open tuning is when you go to play a standard tuned guitar you dont know what to do. i say learn standard first, but its fun to experiment with open shit and different tunings.
