Last Week's Happening.

Last Wednesday,  a guy that graduated in '09 from my high school committed suicide.  When I first heard who it was, I did not recognize his name.  It was only when I saw his picture that i realized that I had actually been acquainted with him.  I realized that he had been on my baseball team a few times, and he had the same sweatshirt that I did in the tenth grade.  However I had not so much as seen him since then.

After the unfortunate news had settled in, I began to think about his life that would have been.  I also realized that he really was a great guy, and my friend.  This is when an interesting question popped into my head.  When he died, did he stop being a great guy, and furthermore, my friend?  Why do we as a whole always refer to the deceased in the past tense?  I concluded by creating the opinion that he is still my friend, and still a great guy.  Also, I came to the conclusion that there are some things that death cannot tarnish.  Cody Halterman is a great guy, and will always be my friend.

Seeing as this is an interesting philosophical question, comments pertaining to this subject and containing interesting opinions are welcome and much desired.

Please leave a word or two about how you feel on this topic.

Thanks a bunch,

Sam
