if you aren't going to have a tone control, just use a 250k pot for the volume control. that will knock down the highs of a passive very similar to the that resistor and cap. and it makes the worst case output impedance 125k. slightly better for hum and noise rejection. ;)

the tone of the active will never be a problem, even if you wire it straight to the jack with no volume or tone. actual pickup has a load resistor before the preamp. the tone of the preamp is not affected by loading. what you lose when using a high resistance pot on an active, is the ability to reject the hum and noise that tries to enter the system on your guitar cable. actives with low resistance pots are great about that. best case (volume at 10) an active will have about 1k output impedance. worst case with a 25k pot in the middle of the resistance will be about 13k. it does a great job of knocking down any hum entering on the cable. But with a 500k pot, in the middle of the resistance, the impedance is just over 250k. So hum and noise enters the system as easily as if you had a passive pickup.

unconventional thinking:

requires an odd pickup selector (maybe a minitoggle), but gets around a lot of the issues regarding mixing passives and active. try it. let me know if you like it. :)
