My friend owns a flat and recently (December) leased it out to a fellow. This guy has only paid one month rent and still owes for Jan and nearly Feb. My friend isnt am angry person nor a violent person. The thing thats really frustrating me is that this guy is clearly taking my mate for a ride. He has left countless messages on the guys phone but has had no reply. The only contact that has been made was a few texts that have been sent.
Last night we both went round to the flat and demanded he pays. We were greeted once the door was opened by his wife, a cousin and who i assume was his mother. They told us that he was at work and would be back in an hour. We explained we wanted the rent tonight and waited in a pub near the flat. We waited and waited and no contact was made apart from the elusive text message that he seems to think is acceptable. The funny thing was that the guy is now threatning my friend because he informs us that we were aggressive when we went to the flat in the first place??! His wife was crying apparently and he then blamed my friend that he wasnt doing his job right...grrrrrrrrrrrr!
Its a complicated story but im so angry and feel very sorry for my friend. This is un-wanted stress on his behalf. He is now confused as to what to do. The first thing that comes to mind is this guy is chucked out. The only problem is that my friend basically has to cut his losses with the overdue rent if this is the case.
If i was a bit taller and built like tank i may have been more helpful. I wouldnt ever instigate something but surely if someone with that capacity was there then we could have tackled this a different way? Anyway rant over, i want this to be sorted soon as possible.
