Bill Nelson's timeless songs and unparalled guitar were the soundtracks of my youth. As a half-decent player now myself - but a complete witling when it comes to creating a tab - your work has opened up a whole new vista to my continuing enjoyment of Bill's creations. Respect !!
Two requests for you: The infills on the Futurama version of Sister Seagull and the soaringly divine Soundtrack from the same album. |
Thanks Reebok, I appreciate the encouragement and I'm glad you enjoy the tabs. I will look at the songs you mentioned when I can.
Cheers, axe

axe victima wrote on Apr 30th, 2009 5:10pmI haven't tried all of your Be-Bop Deluxe Tabs yet (so little time), but can I say you've done some great work and I appreciate the effort involved. I've been playing guitar a long time but still find it daunting, if not impossible, following a lead guitar line that is so fluid, fast and fiery. I'm old enough to have seen Be-Bop Deluxe play several times and have always felt there is something inspirational in Bill Nelson's work, then and up to the present. Cheers.
Thank you My Lord!! I agree with you, inspirational is the word alright. Tell me what you like/don't like. quote |

Practice 3 note per string scales and modes. Learn the arpeggio for every chord. Learn to love the major pentatonic scale as well as the minor. Play the melody in F at the beginning of 'Swansong' - if you speed it up it's a major pent scale that he uses a lot. The riff from Panic In The World is a must. The Sister Seagull signature riff is also essential, minor pent scale. If you can learn the first lick from the Axe Victim guitar solo, you'll be halfway there. I will send you more info by PM. |
Cheers mate, your a legend!

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean - there's no F chord at the beginning of Axe Victim. But perhaps you mean Maid In Heaven? Yes, you're quite right about the whammy bar thing, but I tabbed it like the live version, which you must hear if you haven't already. I should have made that clear in the text of the tab. I will update it soon, but you know, time is limited.
cheers, axe |
Yeah sorry about that, i meant to say maid in heaven,
any advice on how to learn his songs?

KISSARMYSOLDIER wrote on Apr 19th, 2009 3:06pmhey man, great work on the axe victim tab there is just one thing.
At the beginning riff it goes F power chord and then then use the whammy bar, instead of repeating the F power chord.
thanks,

axe victima wrote on Apr 17th, 2009 3:20pmHi
Thanks for your kind words, It makes all the effort worthwhile.
Actually it wasn't me who posted the Rocket Cathedrals tab it was Beep Bop Deluxe, UG member and friend. Send him a friend invite, maybe. The tab is pretty much correct anyway, but I might do the solo sometime. Let me know if you would like me to tab anything, and I must congratulate you on your fine musical taste.
By the way, the first Kiss Alive album used to be one of my favourites, I wore my copy out ( it was a red vinyl gatefold double album ) and learned my basic rock chords from Ace Frehley...apparently he was also a big Be Bop Deluxe fan.
Thanks again for taking the trouble to write. If you could rate your favourites that would be great too.

russgies wrote on Jul 18th, 2008 3:39pmHey, I just wanted to say thanks for the great work you've been doing in making Be Bop Deluxe available. I came here specifically looking for them and I notice most of it has been posted by you, and recently no less. Makes me think there's some kind of synchronicity going on. Anyway, keep up the good work! quote |
