shit

Current mood: optimistic

its been years since ive been on this site, i signed up in january 2002! and fell off the map in like 2005, its been a good 3 years! so whats new? this is new! i had no idea utlimate guitar expanded to a whole profile system, and blog. Ive always wanted to write a blog, never had the drive or need. But here i am, and here we go.

Past 3 year recap: Why i haven't been on ultimate-guitar.

-My band recorded an EP, a year and a half endeavor, and we played tons and tons of shows! it was a huge learning experience, we went to an awesome studio, worked with a producer and engineer, went broke, went back to work, got some cash flow, and back to the studio, this repeated several times. In the end it was fun, and i learned a ton about recording techniques, editing, micing all that stuff, but it left us in debt, and with a product that wasn't as good as it couldve been...why? mainly because we wrote our songs for hte EP half a year before we recoreded them, and it took us about a year and a half to record it, and by that time, we progressed how we played the songs, and we got a hell of a lot better! so the EP became, more or less, how we sounded like almost 2 years ago. But overall, it was worth the experience.

-2006, i finished college and started up my own company. A design company. At the time i mostly worked on corporate marketing and design, logos, marketing strategy, mostly print material. During the same time, i started doing design work for bands. I got to do some merch designs for some amazing bands, and illustrated a bunch of album covers, and im still working with as many bands as possible to this day.

-just in the past few months my band changed it's name, we need to. To blow off the excess baggage of trying to find out who we were as a band, now we know, and now we know what to name ourselves, and how we sound! so the name changed. We started writing new material, which was fun, we shuffled through an entire bank of bits and pieces of riffs and progressions, and fit the pieces together for our full length album...a  fresh start. I spent the past year or so learning more about recording, and have collected a massive data bank, and gear collection. Starting middle of december, we retreat to my basement to record our full length effort. Hoping to finish within 2 weeks! we're on deadlines now!!!

-Recent Projects:

Aside from the band stuff, I've officially started my apprentiship in tattooing. My amazingly awesome tattoo artist has wanted me to work with him since my first tattoo when he saw some of my illustrative work. I've finally found time to make it happen, it's been a dream of mine to be a tattooist, and its finally taking shape. Hopefully i don't suck!

I'm also working on illustrations for Die Young Collective Clothing. Im doing 7 illustrated works that will be featured on their 2010 line of shirts.

that's it for now...i know it was a lot of shit to read, but hopefully its half interesting. Ill try to stay on top of this blog just in case someone cares..say you care!?
