Ampeq B3 and the old Epi. Alas, it has been lobotomized and needs to have all of its electronics put back in. Its all maple and not a bad bass, it just had a bit of psychosis in its electronics. quote |

Hey, y'all. I own a 1987 Epi Accu. I gotta tell ya, that's the first bass I bought new and I still have it. How do I post a pic? It looked like the one above when I got it except black chrome hdw, then I quickly modified it. Did a pseudo Eddy VH picguard, took off all the tuners and offset them and I reversed the G tuner so it's now accessible from the bottom. I most recently replaced the pots and jack with units made for EMG setups, resurfaced the frets, adjusted the neck, bridge, tightened up everything, sanded and painted all the p/guard and p/u screws and put Fender knobs on it, and I shielded the inside quote |

(continued) compartment. What a world of difference. Night and day, the original pots acted like old fenders, with a huge boost in vol and tone in the 8-10 range. These emg pieces are smooth and predictable all the way thru their travel. Highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to replace pots. Anyway, awesome bass, takes the abuse of gigging extremely well, stays solid thru weather changes, and looks timeless!!! quote |

Update--the Quarter Pounders, new pots and wiring are in. No more hum and lordy, it sounds incredibly wonderful
I still haven't found a good picguard in tort--but I am still looking. Now I need a Bad Ass III bridge. quote |

To my eyes, I don't think a P-bass retrofit pickguard would work. I think they're shaped differently. You might have to go custom! quote |

played one of these. I was curious about it, and it had not too bad tone. does bluegrass and country (you know, the weird music I despise) better than my Ibanez. better at getting a good solid thump without too much mud. Surprisingly. that bridge got pretty rusty and varnished. the strings were almost Jamerson high. and the neck was a lot thicker than I'm used to. but it did what it did very well.
I want to hear it with the quarter pounder though. It will probably be lovely. quote |

I havent either. I found mine at a pawn shop and thought it was a custom. Love most of it. I have to say i hate the bridge. I'm probably, like anarkee here, am going to replace all the electronics. And the bridge. I am going to atleast put in new pickups. quote |

I really like this bass. It's really nice. Nicer than my usual one anyway. A lot of people think Epiphone basses are shit. I don't understand why... I think they are pretty good. quote |
