Lucy14785 wrote on Sep 12th, 2008 8:42pmOh god....that happened to me, it was so bad, I just took it to PC world and they cleared it all for me.
Was good, extremely muddy though, gah. For me, Tenacious D, Metallica, Robots in Disguise, Feeder and Seasick Steve were the best. QOTSA were canny good too like. Gutted that Slipknot cancelled, but I'll probably go and see the arena tour. We left RATM at like half 10 cos the sound was so bad where we were standing! Good music this year, but was better craic last year.
Although. Me and my friend stalked Fletch from Hollyoaks so it's not all bad.
Oooh, plus, I heard that Beck is coming back to the UK in autumn 2008 (so soon-ish) quote |

Lucy14785 wrote on Aug 8th, 2008 9:08pmI know, I have no where to drive to...? Everything is within walking/bus distance. Plus with fuel and insurance prices I'm going to be in debt Ah well.
There are quite a few independent music shops in Newcastle (most of them hidden down scary alley ways, but they're worth it).
And yeah, I'm looking forward to Tenacious D/Manics/Feeder/Slipknot (I used to be proper obsessed...)/Queens of the Stone Age.
And me too about Presidents, "Peaches" became our anthem for like a month after that gig! Someone proposed to his girlfriend on stage in the middle of the encore! I think it was the lead singer who used to actually play with Beck aswell (I didn't find that out til after the gig mind) quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Aug 5th, 2008 8:56pmAnd sweet Lord I just noticed you had Presidents of the USA in your fave bands section. Legend! quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Aug 5th, 2008 8:50pmPoo. No Sea Change, all I got was driving lessons. Ah well. BUT, I went into this random independent music store near where I work today (there was a Beck poster in the window) and he gave me a free one lol.
I've got to work! 9-5 in an office. By the time I get home there's hardly any time for lounging And I want to complete Okami on ps2 but haven't got enough time.
And no way! I'm going to Leeds Festival lol! Have you ever been before? This'll be my 3rd time, 2nd time of camping though. Who are you most excited for? quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Aug 2nd, 2008 11:50amI felt bad so I changed it to 5 lol.
I did actually find the Sea Change one on amazon for £14, which is still a bit steep, but it's almost my birthday so I'm getting that yayyy. I also saw the one for Guero, which I didn't think there would be. I doubt there'd be one for Midnite Vultures, and I don't think the Modern Guilt one is about yet.
Yeah, it was sooo much darker in the third series, but there were still some great moments. I hate the Crack Fox though...
So, hows you? Any gigs or anything lined up? quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 26th, 2008 5:11pmI gave it a 4 - it was great but there was that solo bit missing? But I did add it to my favourite tabs list (recent UG discovery lol) Well done for 1st tab!
Series three was good, but the first 2 were the best. Old Gregg. You can't top that. I think me and my friend are going to go, but I'm not sure how many tickets are left. I'll just see how it goes I guess.
You can get the proper tab book for Mellow Gold, but not for Sea Change for some reason...? quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 26th, 2008 12:29pmGod I know. Then there's the sampling and stuff on top of that.
I suppose the best albums to play would be Mutations and Sea Change cos it's only really guitar on those. Got the Odelay book yesterday and it is really good, but again, some of it just sounds a bit odd cos of all the synth and whatever that he puts on it - but Ramshackle and Minus sound great.
Ooh that would be great thanks!
You going to see the Boosh on tour later this year? quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 22nd, 2008 9:42pmActually you can play pretty much the same ones as me! Ramshackle, Novacane, E-Pro...I can play Diamond Bollocks/Stqatic and some others from Mutations but they mostly have dodgy tunings that I can never be bothered to do lol, but am getting the Odelay book for my birthday so I will update the Beckness.
I have to agree - that episode of Futurama is class! "That song isn't meant to last three hours...but we got into a serious thing...and then I forgot how it ended". And you will have to send me the tab for Gamma Ray! I love love love it quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 18th, 2008 11:00pmI found a couple of the Gameboy variations of Guero on some myspace and they're quite good, but nothing from Guerolito.
Right top ten, in no order. But I'm not gonna include any from MG cos I've only had it for a week!
1. Sexx Laws (first song I ever downloaded from iTunes and first Beck song I ever heard - good old Futurama)
2. Static
3. Think I'm In Love
4. Mixed Bizness
5. Pay No Mind
6. Minus
7. Lord Only Knows
8. Lost Cause
9. E-Pro
10. Scavenger/Johnny Depp.
Which beck songs can you play? I've got the Mutations book and I'm learning Static all the way through atm quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 12th, 2008 1:13pmI've got them all apart from Guerolito and any before Mellow Gold. I did find the Guero deluxe for £8 (when it was £22 in hmv) with the bonus dvd and the remixes though.
I was in HMV the other day (in Newcastle) and asked about Stereopathic Soulmanure and was mocked because they didn't stock it and weren't sure it even existed and "was I sure it wasn't the new one?". But I'd seen it in the Manchester hmv when I was there for Beck 2 days before!! I should have bought it gah. It was £13 which I thought was a bit pricey for my budget. (I wanted the Beck merch...)
I don't think you can buy One Foot in the Grave from shops any more, I think best bet is probably Amazon.
Oooh walls is fab too. Has anyone tabbed anything from MG yet?
Go on then, top 10 Beck songs quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 10th, 2008 8:43pmScavenger is on this myspace music page - search Beck Hansen and the pick is a telephone box...for some reason. But it's sooo good, but that version is such bad quality (you can't really hear it after the drums come in) so I'm generally asking other people who like Beck if they have a better version...
Which Beck albums do you have?
(and yay! modern guilt arrived yesterday morning! orphans is my fave, I've decided) quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 7th, 2008 11:22pmSexx Laws would have been the shizz, but i've seen him do it live, and he always has trumpets and stuff with him when he does it - and he only had like 4 other people with him. Maybe next time (crosses fingers).
I was standing just off to the right of the stage at the front, so had a dead good view. Yeasayer were dead good, i thought, so next time i've got a proper internet connection (looooong story) i might see if i could watch some more of them on youtube.
I was not expecting Timebomb at all! I loved that, and Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime. Loser was awesome aswell (in fact I bought a slide last thurs just so i could play it lol)
4 hour train ride? Oof, we had a three hour one back to Newcastle, but there were a few delays because another train had broken down on the tracks ahead of us...
Have you ever heard a Beck song called Scavenger? quote |
Lucy14785 wrote on Jul 5th, 2008 11:43pmI think that's just myspace lol...
i thought he was amazing! he could have spoken to the audience a bit more, but his playing and singing was mint!
Me and my friend got the train all the way from Newcastle to go see him! Was gutted he didn't play sexx laws, but i guess he'd need trumpets or something for that...i'd forgotten most of the setlist by the time i'd gotten there, so i'd forgotten stuff like black tambourine, epro and lost cause were on there.
how was he for you? where were you standing? quote |
