Not really helpful, but next time you buy a cable. Look for ether a monster "Life time warrenty," even though they do break from time to time. Or get a cable that has "stress free cupplers" or also known as "Stress free jacks." That is what I made my cable out of, and I just can't see mo break the damn thing. What they do is they take alot more of the cable inside of the jack, and create kind of a loop and then latch onto the brading. So if there is any breaking it will only be the braided case, and not the wire. There's my 2-10 cents. I like to ramble on if you can't tell. ^_^ quote

I spent like $40.00 on a 6-foot Monster cable. After about 6 months the friggin' thing fell out of my guitar jack and the tip broke into 4 or 5 pieces. -This is while I was just practicing away! I've never even heard of this happening to anyone. In fact, I've never heard of any cable simply falling out of a jack. And of course it didn't get replaced as I didn't save the damn reciept..... quote
