Favorite bands :
My favorite genres: Classical, Classic-Rock, Delta Blues, Chicago Blues, Blues-Rock, Hard-Rock, Folk, Folk-Rock, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Country Rock/Southern Rock, Gospel, Jazz Reggae, Praise & Worship, Grunge, Metal. I like pretty much everything (except for punk, hip-hop and rap... I just don't like those very much), especially stuff that was not made during my life time.
----
For me, my favorite music usually depends on the song. In other words, I may really like a song by a band, but that doesn't make them my favorite band. I have many favorite songs, but not many favorite bands. What I have listed here are some of the bands of whom I really like and have a good amount of their music.

Permit me dear,
If I might dream,
Of a summer's day,
Beside a stream,
We talk together
We discuss the weather
Hand in hand
Side by side
You and I
Forgive me if,
The imagery's dated,
But it's not,
Overpopulated,
It's underrated,
And as previously stated,
It's just we two,
It's just me and you
Maybe someday,
I'll see you there,
When the weather's fair,
I'll love you in that summer,
Dress I saw you wear,
With flowers in your hair,
We won't have a care
I'll love you till,
The day I die,
I'll laugh when you laugh,
And cry when you cry,
If you let my imagination fly,
Far away,
To a summer's day
Hey there little baby,
Don't you go and worry,
Mama's gonna feed you,
When she gets home
Now he's finished working,
Daddy's gone drinking
Though you feel lonely,
You're not alone
Clothes don't fit you,
Daddy just hit you,
Mama says you can't do,
Nothing right
No use crying,
You've given up trying,
To close your eyes to sleep at night
Chorus:
You know Jesus loves all,
Of his children,
Black, white, young and old,
No matter where they've been,
Every single one's been,
Bound and broken,
Still he wants his children to,
Come unto him
Still he wants his children to,
Come unto him
You don't have to grow up so,
Complicated,
Don't hide your face so,
The world can't see,
Hold your head up,
Oh no life is never easy,
But don't make it harder than,
It needs to be
If the sun don't shine down,
On your face,
You know you're going,
To a better place
You've been hurt and,
You've done some hurtin',
But there's one thing that,
You know for certain
Chorus
I say oh,
Do you wanna go,
To where there's no death,
'Cause your body doesn't grow,
And it never gets sick,
And you never get old?
There's a new life waiting,
Whe he takes you home
So long Abby don't you let it get you down
Once in a while just give the world a smile not an upside down frown
It's alright, it's OK, to cry at the end of a bad day,
When it's overcast and the world is grey, sometimes the sun shines through the clouds anyway
The best thing about who you are,
Is who you love,
Who made you and,
The stuff that you are made of
So long Abby, Carolina's not too far away,
To think about sometimes, and hope that we're gonna stay,
Friends, I'm glad we met, I'm happy to get a note from you,
Telling me about your life and all the stuff you're going through
The best thing about where you are,
Is that you're there
You make it better so,
Don't be worried don't be scared
So long Abby, you know you made a grown man cry
Hearts break for you even though they don't know why
Who could not love you? I dunno, but it's a scary thought
'Cause everyone I know would, and as love goes that's a hell of a lot
The best thing about who you are,
Is who you love,
Don't you know you're your father's joy,
And the joy of your father up above
I shot an arrow at the sun
its golden rays fell down on everyone.
And as we looked up at the sky
a blanket of love opened up our eyes
Imagine love
imagine love
imagine love
radiating from our hearts
We rode the moon around its path
then we set anchor, so the moonlight would last.
We danced atop of all the stars,
but not a single one beamed brighter than our hearts
Imagine love
imagine love
imagine love
even though we're worlds apart
I reached the end of the ocean line
and i saw You there
It left me breathless, this Wonder in sight
cause Your Love was raining down everywhere
Imagine love
imagine love
imagine love
from the One who knows my heart
Who knows my,
who knows my heart
I call with all my heart
My soul faints longing for You.
Save me, Oh Lord;
from lying lips and deceitful truths
Without love, we're birds with broken wings
(Without love)
Without faith, this life has no meaning
(Without faith)
Without hope, this world crashes down around me.
(Without hope)
You heard my cry,
now my lips overflow with praise.
I strayed, I moved away.
Now I'm here and I give you
all that I am;
but i will mess up again.
But your mercy wipes away my sins, yeah
(chorus)
I see a limit to perfection
but your commands are boundless.
All your love and your affection
Make me fly
(x2)
With You I'm a bird with wounded wings
Your unfailing Love heals me.
These scars and the pain remind me
of who I was
and who I am now
in YOU.
About Wood & Metal
Hey there, I'm John! Pleased to meet ya!
I've been playing guitar since mid-2007, and I love it. It is also my desire to become a multi-instrumentalist. The other instruments I'm interested in include (but not limited to): harmonica, resonator guitar (A.K.A. Dobro), bass guitar, keyboard/piano, mandolin, the cowbell and banjo.
I can thoroughly enjoy almost all genres of music, but my favourite genre is probably the good ol' blues, be it acoustic or electric. Folk is a top favourite of mine too. However, whether or not I like a song usually just depends on the song itself. As in, just cause a song is bluesy doesn't mean I'll automatically like it.
I also really dig slide guitar, which is a fun style of playing guitar by having one of your fretting fingers inserted into a hollow, cylindrical object (such as a bottle neck) and sliding that up and down the guitar neck. It makes a really cool sound! Two white guitarists who can give excellent examples of this technique would be Rory Gallagher and Duane Allman. This technique was also commonplace among the black blues guitarists in the early part of the 20th century, like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and Elmore James.
I also love to sing, though I'm not a very good singer. I also like to write poetry, when I'm inspired.
I'm also a follower of Jesus the Anointed One, God's Son, who I think is the wisest and greatest person who ever walked the planet. A personal dream & ambition of mine is to be a guitarist/songwriter/co-singer in a rock band because, to be honest, I'm not too happy with the current condition of Christian Contemporary Music. There are virtually no Christian blues-rock artists, there are almost zero Christian guitarists that young Christian guitar players such as myself to look up to, and not only that, but the songwriting is, on average, a bit on the weak side.
If I were to be in a band, it would be my desire to change that.
But first and foremost, I want to accomplish God's Will for my life, whether that means going into the music industry or becoming a missionary (which I already am at the moment, I'll explain in just a little bit) or whatever. As far as I'm concerned, if I'm not furthering the Kingdom of God, I'm wasting my time.
Religion (or whatever you want to call it) aside, I just really want to love others selflessly (like how Jesus did it; he wasn't always preaching to people 24/7) and try to make this world a better, cleaner, and more caring place. I also want to remind people that beauty (and good music for that matter) is in the eye (and ear) of the beholder. I try as best to my ability to love people of all creeds, colours, races, religions, ideologies, philosophies, sexualities and political parties, even though I don't always succeed.
My father is American, from Chicago, and my mother is English, from London, and I was born in Margate, in south-eastern England. I have one sibling, a sister. When I was 11 months old, my family and I moved to the Czech Republic as missionaries, and we lived there for 10 years, then we moved down to Bosnia, which was part of the former Yugoslavia. Then in the summer of 2008, we moved down to Montenegro, which is on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea (to the right of Italy). So I've pretty much been a missionary my whole life!
This summer I'm planning on going to Tulsa, Oklahoma for Bible college! Yee-haw! I can't wait! The only bummer is that I'm going to have to cut my long hair, of which I'm so proud of. Boohoo!
I'll just grow a beard to make up for it.
Without Love, you are nothing. (1 Corinthians 13)
The Truth shall set you free. (John 8:31-32, 14:6)
