40 yrs old. Been loving music since I was small and it really took off when I hit high school.I was hooked the first time that I heard Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". The rest is history! I wouldn't call myself a metal head because I love most forms of the rock genre.
I however have a thing for 80's metal/shred/hair metal. Whatever you wanna call it. To me it was the pinnacle of guitar playing. The parts of today's so called heavy metal where it sounds like the singer is vomiting and the guitarist was too lazy to tune his guitar and amp don't really appeal to me. A metal song without a solo is not a metal song in my opinion.
To me the most beautiful sound in the world is the sound of a Les Paul played through a Marshall Stack at full volume. Nothing compares.
I took a few lessons in the beginning but soon realized all the "This is your Life" shit is gonna catch up with me pretty soon. In my country it's pretty much frowned upon to be a professional musician unless you play "Boere Musiek" or corny Afrikaans crap. So I gave up on the dream and joined the military. Which took me very far from my passion.
I got back into music at the suggestion of the military psychologist I was seeing at the time as part of my treatment for PTSD. I went back to my one big passion about 8 yrs ago and since then have devoted myself to my art and in the process I've started to transcribed tabs which brought me to UG.
Married with two children. I absolutely fuckin' hate Grunge! It nearly killed rock music for the serious musicians.(Not to mention the fact that Pearl Jam is inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame before Judas Priest) If you wanna commit suicide you listen Grunge. It's for seriously depressed people.
I work to promote the Rock'n'Roll lifestyle because it seems our way of life and music is dying.
