I did spent a small amount of time trying to fix the tone, but it was just frustrating me so in the end I pretty much gave up and stuck with what I could get. For the drums, I programmed them with my Boss BR600, so I didn't really expect them to be that great either. I wasn't trying to get perfect sound quality, I just kind of wanted to see what people thought of the actual song and then work on the other side of things a little later.
I appreciate your feedback
sank you once again : ) quote |

Can you export the stuff on there as mp3 files? quote |
Nemesis@Germany wrote on Sep 24th, 2009 8:00pmah. i need to listen to the song somewhen again, when i'm less busy.
maybe you send me a link, so i can download it and crit in school in my break.
for now, i can tell you, it's a good song.
the synths and the guitar sometimes don't sound synchron.
and you need to mix it again, sometimes i couldn't hear the drums probably.
and the guitars need to be more.. fuzzy, blurry. i can't find the right word.
they sound too sharp in my opinion.
i think the atmosphere will be created in a better way.
and the vocals somewhere in the second half of the song was really good.
i'd find it better if it were louder. (: quote |

haha.
Hey man,
I understand your predicament, and since I'm a nice guy I will let you in on my secret. Get a cheap ass MIDI controller/MIDI keyboard with USB functionality, get Guitar Pro, and learn how to pirate expensive software. All of the sounds I make I could technically make for no money. The MIDI controller isn't even necessary, but I like testing sounds using it.

I try not to think of myself as a musical elitist in any way, and by such I tend to desire to allow people to have access to awsome programs to add to their potential in music creation. I've had shit gear for how long, and I've even learned that with some mastering and synthetic element; tracks even with shitty guitar tone and what not can actually sound decent.
In due time I will write you up a basic message as to how to torrent these things. |
cool. thanks

If you ever desire a bunch of VSTs (like Atmosphere, EDIROL Orchestra, or EZ Drummer) let me know. I know where to get them free (through illegal means). That is, assuming you are for pirating. haha. |
yeah, sure!
I wish I had something to offer you. but you probably have more of everything than me...

To answer your question, no I've never really studied music. I am self taught in all instruments. I have broken music down to mathematics through tablature. To some degree it is a guessing game, to the other I have decent quality ears. I have tried to study some music theory, but for the most part can't retain the information. I mean, I know a few scales but I hardly understand how they work in a song. I just kind of use them to practice, then write as my heart desires. quote |

If you would ever be interested in collaborating on a song, feel free to message me. I have a Line 6 Pod Farm GX which allows me to get some decent guitar tones, both ranging from light electric to distortion. I also have a lot of VST's which allow me to get a bunch of synth sounds plus realistic sounding orchestra parts and drums. |
whoa, i'm jealous!
i'd love to collaborate with you of course.
i'm liking the sound of your songs on there. Do you study music by any chance?

Its not that bad, the worst part is the recording quality. Your acoustic tone leaves a lot to be desired, and your voice seems a bit restrained (perhaps due to your mic being weird?). I would suggest upping the guitar volume just a bit to make it more audible with the vocals. Now that I think of it, the song may better suit a nice piano to be honest. |
thanks for listening The guitar is actually an electric guitar at a low volume...and I recorded using a video camera as a mic, hence the quality.

s'been good. I've been kept busy as of late with a school play that finished yesterday and I've attempted to work on my guitaring, it's not been going that well :
How good at synthing are you? |
I'm pretty good at "synthing" haha. You can hear my synth work throughout many of my songs on here and on youtube. I am also a synth player in a local band too. Its a pretty sweet instrument.

insideac wrote on Jun 8th, 2009 2:31pmHey dude, thanks for the comment! Yes I am using VSTs, I use different ones however. For MOST of my orchestration, I use East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold, for my choir, I use East West Symphonic Choir, for my industrial sounds I use Adrenaline, and for a general VST with many many high quality sounds, Colossus, its amazing. All of these VSTs are by East West, and the samples are real recordings. Each library is huge, for example the Orchestra one is 62GB and the Choir is 32GB, but its worth it. Lemme know if you have any questions! quote |
Preid wrote on May 15th, 2009 1:07amI can also do the acustic playing, my guitar skilz are mad.
By the time you've read this, ill have uploaded an acustic sample or 2. quote |
