I was thinking of buying a Zvex Woolly Mammoth pedal for my guitar to give it a new pair of 'balls', what do you think? |
Yeah, definately go for it, just make sure it's exactly what you want, because it's a pricey pedal. Try one out beforehand, just to make sure.
But yeah, I'll recommend anything the Z Vex people make to be honest.

Alright cool, thanks. Just one more question. Did you find the 808 to be more bassy and OD-9 more trebley, or no difference? Your help is appreciated | I just thought the OD-9 had more of what i wanted, It gave more gain and make a bigger difference when it was turned on.

Hey. You have the pedal i want to buy (OD-9), but people keep saying 'go get the 808 ftw *blah blah*', what are your thoughts on the Maxon OD-9? Thanks | I tried both pedals side by side, and i liked the OD-9 more. I think you should do the same and try them both out. Im not sure how the pedals would have reacted with my actual gear though because i tried it with a different amp. Who knows maybe the od808 would have been better with my amp, but i liked the OD-9 more with the amp i tried it out on. Hope that helps.

timi_hendrix wrote on Jun 6th, 2008 6:22pmThe Viper's nice, very easy to play (now at least, the factory setup was a bit off but I've sorted it now), sounds great unplugged. Has a pretty bad neck dive but I swapped the grippy strap over from my Ibanez so it's better balanced now. Fret access is amazing, you can widdle away right atthe top without breaking your wrist :haha
Sound-wise it's pretty good, I don't really like the bridge pickup that much though, it seems to have an upper mid/treble spike in it, doesn't really suit the guitar that much. Still sounds nice but needs a bit of careful EQing to shine.
I'm chuffed I got it for the price I did, 'cause I would never pay £600 for one which is the usual going price. quote |
