What was wrong with the retainers? and how complicated is it to re-bias it for 50w? |
It is not really that hard but somewhat time consuming and stressful. You have to let the bias settle in and play the amp too, rest, play, check bias, tweak, play, rest.......all while the amp is opened up and running. Dangerous. A filter capacitor can hold a deadly voltage for some time even after the amp has been off for days, let alone running right in front of you. Every amp is different though so there are no hard and fast rules. You use a multimeter, bias probe and then use a screw driver to adjust the bias pot if it has one. You can see the tube retainers in some of the older pics. Cap at the top of the tube with springs holding the tubes in. Unnecessary for me.

Capacitors can hold deadly current for quite some time......take it in......preamp tubes are not a big deal tho....so as long as you are not opening the chassis you are good.

i have the CD, too. there's just a deluxe edition of the DVD mixed for Dolby Surround 5.1 systems. itshouldn't be limited edition. it wouldn't make sense.

Yeah, I just recently joined a progressive-metal band called Gaia about a month ago and we're doing songwriting for a second album. You can check it out at http://www.myspace.com/gaia but the songs there are from the first album so I didn't play on them. Also we're not doing any shows right now because we need a bass player, possibly a keyboard player and new songs.
How about you? are you in a band? |
Yeah well.. i was. but we disbanded since i moved away and our 2nd guitarist OD'ed .. fascinating stuff really :P only 24 years old. Any way I'm gonna check out your music as soon as i get home.. right now I'm .. well not able to check it out xD
