Just A Quick Note

Current mood: stressed

This is just a quick note to point out that all my latest and greatest mp3s are now available to listen to without having to sift through all the other crap I've uploaded to this page over the past year or so:

http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/jonnyvaughan/

As ever, feedback is massively appreciated and as a reminder... All (I think, if not let me know) these songs can be downloaded for free here:

www.reverbnation.com/jonnyvaughan

And that's your lot :D now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to revising for my life-deciding exams.
Cheers everyone.

A Monologue

Current mood: reflective

A Monologue

I’ve still got Christmas bells ringing in my ears, in my head. Loops of random riffs of songs I don’t even know or like, through the night and day, half-muttered forgotten lyrics in a language that’s probably too vague to have any meaning, at least not any more.

The familiar, unwelcome, tepid but acidic feeling in my chest and throat tells me I’m angry about something before I even know what. I’m aware I’ll snap in a moment. It’ll only last a few seconds, but in those seconds I’ll scream and thrash so loudly that afterwards I can only hope that nobody heard me.

It’s easy simply to blank my mind out on a song that’s got nothing to do with my situation. It doesn’t matter what it’s about; it’s just the sound, the noise; that special inspired ignorance etched into a tune that’s important for me. It doesn’t matter how many times I listen to it either; the fact that it’s rhythmic and repetitive and vapid just helps. It slips in so smoothly with the monotony that I’m accustomed to and replaces it, overlaps it. It’s not soothing. When it’s gone, the problems and the pain are still there but it doesn’t matter.

If I can be allowed to drift in the abstract for too long, maybe I won’t come back. I’ll reach a state of inner peace that will only make everything I perceive and do all the less important because I’m just… drifting. If you’re drifting you can’t touch anything, you can’t feel anything, you can’t know anything. Reality dictates that I must be hunched over a laptop in the dark, but the Empires marching through my consciousness are far easier to lose myself to.

Overreaction and melodrama are all relative to the accuser. If I’m feeling it, it’s real to me. No other opinion matters.

A severe lack of logic in the general population and a certain level of hypocrisy when it comes to applying said logic have caused me to lose faith in the concept of logic itself. If nobody else can be bothered with it, is there any point in pretending to have even a scrap of integrity?

Don’t categorise me, don’t class me, don’t grade me, and don’t judge me. I don’t think I’m better than people, I don’t think I’m “above the system”, I just know it doesn’t matter. I’m doing you a favour here; I’m saving you the effort of wasting your precious time on what you’d refer to as an underachiever with lots of potential. I haven’t earned the attention, and I don’t deserve it, so save it.

Racism

Current mood: pissed off

Ok I'm not going to whack out a long and compelling speech about this because frankly this topic has been done to death.
My opinion is that any form of racism is morally shameful and second only to practices such as paedofilia and rape.
It has bred issues such as genocide (ethnic cleansing) and mass segregation, and why? Because a bunch of guys couldn't handle the fact that someone with different coloured skin was exactly the same as them, deep down.

I'd like to just take a moment to point out a person who's behaviour can be described as racist. Young and immature perhaps, but if this way of seeing things is not exorcised from him quickly who knows what it could lead to?

I may mot be elijah but im still his friend and we both have the same point of view. whats the only time you wink at obama? when your looking at him through your scope. what do JFK and Obama have in common? nothing, yet. you know how Obama has a dream? remember what happened to the last black that said he had a dream.

Just a little bit of background: this comes after I made a comment on edsguitar's blog about some racist slurs he had made towards Barrack Obama. He promptly deleted the blog but as we can see, him and his friend continue to argue the case.
I was tempted to remove this scummy message from my comments list but decided to leave it there as an example of the terrifying views being fed to our generation today.

I also recieved this as a personal message:

Hi, ej's friend cj again.  and i hope you liked my quote on OBAMA!  you may not know me but I know you.  STALKER!! i know right.    you worship obama

Not quite an illustration of further racism but a clear indication of his immaturity.

These kids didn't teach themselves to be racist, somebody's taught them that's the right way to view the world... Does that not scare you?

Halloween

Current mood: taking the piss because I love it really

So... We had Halloween recently.

This has always struck me as a bit of a ridiculous celebration for two reasons. Number one, a night where all manner of ghouls and ghastly apparitions are traditionally supposed to walk the Earth and devour or scare mankind does NOT strike me as a particularly good night to venture beyond one's threshold. I'm not entirely sure where candy came into it... I challenge anyone to appease a real werewolf with a pack of Haribo. Good luck with that.

Second of all... For the first few years of their lives, children are told stories by their parents about monsters that they should be scared of and warned by parents not to take sweets from strangers.
But for ONE NIGHT of the year... They are encouraged to DRESS UP as said monsters and go out unsupervised to DEMAND sweets from these very same strangers.

Now. Granted, I think it is safe to say we no longer have vampires and mummies stalking our streets (that I know of) but I think pedofiles still count as monsters don't you?
Now there's some real horror for you.

The Gibson Robot

Current mood: crashing

Now, understand that I genuinely do want one but:

"It took Chris Adams 10 years to perfect the lightweight and foolproof auto-tuning system on the revolutionary Gibson Robot Guitar. Aggravated by the never-ending tuning process, he devised a system that would automatically tune a guitar in no time flat."

Does that not strike you as a little ironic? He got sick of spending loads of time tuning his guitar so he spent 10 FUCKING YEARS working out a way around it.

Ok yes, he's a millionaire now as well... Shut up.
