1. Cartel - Cycles
I never really got into Cartel over the years, but my friend's a big fan. Because he doesn't know how to torrent, he asked me to do it for him and send it to him. After downloading it, I listened to it and discovered how great this album is. While not a superb release, Cycles is a strong and extremely fun pop punk album. Rating: 3.5-5
2. Local H - Pack Up the Cats
I haven't listened to this since my brother put it on my iPod in 7th grade. Back then, I never really liked the grunge rock they played. For some reason, I remembered the existence of this album today and found it stashed away with my cd's of old. I popped it in and instantly loved the whole thing. Rating: 4.5/5
3. Circa Survive - Juturna
I'm a pretty big Anthony Green fan. I adore old Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting, and his solo stuff. When I picked this up awhile back I really didn't like it. I found it to be quite boring and bland. I decided to give it another shot. It blew me out of the water. I loved its mature sound, its progressive qualities, and how beautiful the guitars, drums, and Anthony's voice blend together to create a sound truly unique. Rating: 4/5
4. The Red Chord - Fed Through the Teeth Machine
I've always been a pretty big deathcore geek. I love the stuff. I had only heard bits of pieces from Red Chord's earlier stuff (mainly stuff from "Fused Together in Revolving Doors") so I really didn't know what to expect. These guys are great. They're extremely tight, especially for only having one guitarist this time around. The drums are fast and unrelenting and the guitars are brutal, driven, and in some cases, beautiful and elegant.
