The Ultimate Nirvana CD Disc B

Current mood: crazy

I doubt that the "Best Of" CD of the grunge band Nirvana really covers all of their hits, greatest songs and fan favorites. Therefore, I have decided to make a CD track-listing containing 30 songs myself. There is an A Side for the major hits and greatest songs, and a B Side for the fantastic songs that were pretty much ignored. 15 songs on each side. And by the way I didn't include covers. Just to let you know.

So tell me what you think. However, as I always say, this is OPINION, and opinions are not to be criticized. So any constructive criticism is welcome, and so are compliments. :) So, please enjoy.

Nirvana
Kurt Cobain (1967 - 1994) - Lead Vocals, Guitars
Krist Novoselic - Bass Guitars
Dave Grohl - Drums, Back Vocals

Disc B

1. Blew

I my opinion, Bleach was totally ignored when the real CD was made. This song describes Nirvana very accurately.

2. School

The live version is on From The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, and I like it slightly more than the recorded version. Nonetheless, a great song.

3. Negative Creep

Another raw song, later even covered by Velvet Revolver; I also like the live version of this one too.

4. Stay Away

Just barely missed my A side, but this one definitely deserves at least the B side. I like the original Pay To Play version better for some reason.

5. Lounge Act

One my personal favorites. I would have put it on the A side, but there were just too many big hits on it already. This is one of their most underrated songs ever.

6. Sappy

One of their best. Again, this deserves A but there were too many big-name songs on there already. One of the most ignored songs by Nirvana.

7. Big Long Now

Nothing matches this. The geniusly simple but great guitar riffs, the lyrics, and the vocals..... The most ignored and underrated song by far.

8. Been A Son

I ignored this one from the A side, and left it on here; it was a great song, but not good enough to have left out the other brilliant ones.

9. Stain

I love this song. Truly unique lyrics, and a great melody. Not good enough for the A side, but still a great song.

10. Even In His Youth

A fantastic song released as a B-Side on the Smells Like Teen Spirit singles. Very underrated, though with great meaning.

11. Oh The Guilt

Released as a split single with Jesus Lizard, this song did not gain much popularity even among the fans.

12. Old Age

Another unreleased song, but the melody and the lyrics are really great.

13. Anorexorist

I love this song, but it was definitely not a hit. In fact, hardly anyone seems to know it. Great song nonetheless.

14. Verse Chorus Verse

Another very ignored song. I even forgot it on my Top 25 Nirvana Songs blog. How embarrassing to have forgotten such a fantastic song.

15. Serve The Servants

My favorite on this side apart from Lounge Act. This goes against the soft verse-hard chorus pattern, and "serve the servants"..... What a genius phrase..... A great outro too, a great way to end the CD.

So, opinions and comments are always welcome. No criticism on opinion, apart from constructive criticism that actually helps. So, thanks for taking a look, and bye for now. :wavey:

alright, the mix was better here than on cd A still, "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" should be on one of the cd's, or "Endless Nameless"

yea, but I didn't want to put Endless Nameless in the CD. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter maybe yes, but I was out of tracks

great compilation(both discs), if only they would actually release this

only thing I think you left off would be scentless apprentice and curmudgeon, still a great list though, probably the best nirvana comp. ive seen.
