The Ultimate Nirvana CD Disc A

Current mood: crazy

I doubt that the "Best Of" CD of the grunge band Nirvana really covers all of their hits, greatest songs and fan favorites. Therefore, I have decided to make a CD track-listing containing 30 songs myself. There is an A Side for the major hits and greatest songs, and a B Side for the fantastic songs that were pretty much ignored. 15 songs on each side. And by the way I didn't include covers. Just to let you know.

So tell me what you think. However, as I always say, this is OPINION, and opinions are not to be criticized. So any constructive criticism is welcome, and so are compliments. :) So, please enjoy.

Nirvana
Kurt Cobain (1967 - 1994) - Lead Vocals, Guitars
Krist Novoselic - Bass Guitars
Dave Grohl - Drums, Back Vocals

Disc A

1. You Know You're Right

I totally agree on this one. Starting off with something previously unreleased but as valuable as this was definitely the best choice.

2. About A Girl

The only Bleach representative on the real one, and I must include this.

3. Come As You Are

One that truly deserves to be in the real CD. Brilliant song.

4. In Bloom

This song captures Nirvana's style very well. You can not leave it out.

5. Smells Like Teen Spirit

Not much explanation needed here really. A fantastic song that has everything, if you think about it neutrally.

6. Lithium

Not really one of my personal favorites, but I guess it needs to be on the A side.

7. On A Plain

Definitely missed out on the real one. I can not believe they left this one out. Unbelievable.

8. Drain You

I can seriously not believe Drain You was not included in the real CD. A great song, I love the interlude.

9. Sliver

This is another great song. There is a whole story inside it, and this must go on the A Side.

10. Aneurysm

What is a Greatest Songs CD without the band's best song? Aneurysm has everything. Aneurysm captures Nirvana's style, Kurt Cobain's lyrics and the band's music overall in a brilliant 5 minutes.

11. Polly

I mean, if a song is released like 4 times, how could you not have it on their ultimate CD? Polly is a song with deep meaning, and it deserves its place here.

12. Heart-Shaped Box

A brilliant song, unforgettable. Maybe very different from other songs, but this has got to be on here.

13. Pennyroyal Tea

An excellent song also played on their Unplugged concert. This song was also chosen for the real CD, and deservedly.

14. Rape Me

Interesting song. I think this is one of the ultimate grunge songs as well, with the lyrics, the guitar playing, the drums and bass, the vocals, the music.....

15. All Apologies

I would have to say this is the best way to wrap up the CD, with a very grunge-style song. Fantastic lyrics, and a truly remarkable outro.

So, opinions and comments are always welcome. No criticism on opinion, apart from constructive criticism that actually helps. So, thanks for taking a look, and bye for now. :wavey:

C ya around :wtf:

pretty good man, the only problem is that i wouldn't have put so many "Nevermind" tracks on it, its like listenin 2 "Nevermind" wit a few songs thrown in from their other albums

i'd buy the cd haha but i have to agree with the others.

Maybe some songs off In Utero (In my opinion In Utero is some of their best, i dig that album)

Nevermind was cool and the songs were good but there's better stuff.

I do like how you ended with All Apologies though, very very nice

This is all puts a smile on my face haha :D

man..... you gotta be kidding me. I thought I was the only grunge rocker in the world who'd listen to it repeatedly in the mornings on the way to school on my bus haha what a coincidence :haha:

seriously though, the part where he kinda mutters "serve the servants..... oh no." over the distortion, it's beautiful.

only complaint here is no something in the way, but i still say you did a better job than whoever picked the tracklisting for the greatest hits cd
