I'm not going to argue, this is pointless. Everyone has different tastes in tone. I don't like the Spider series, you do. Whatever, who cares.
As you said, arguments online are petty and don't help anything.
We have different tastes, and if you would've paid attention in my post on said forum, I was posting my OPINION...for it to be vaild, it doesn't mean I must own the product, but have some general idea of what it is and how I think it suits me.
I'm sorry if I sounded offensive, but the opinion of a prick like me shouldn't matter too much. |
Dude, you're right. The Line 6 Spider 'III' series sucks. Complete toneless.

dudey5691 wrote on Apr 24th, 2008 3:56pmI wasn't "raving" when I said "it and the MG equally suck". I was just stating an opinion.
Raving would be going at extremes to tell people "OMGZ'd t3h SpYd34 sucks, i shood no, i plaiyed et one at mi freindsss house" then retort when people say otherwise.
My underdeveloped opinion? Three days a week for three months during the summer is invalidated? Sure I don't have the validity of the owner, but I'd say if I've had the exposure I'm allowed to post what my ears perceive to be "good" and "bad".
My post only mentioned an alternative to what the TS could have done; it was not a shot down directed toward anyone and wasn't intended to be taken seriously.
If the TS was looking to buy an amp, this argument would not have happened;I would have suggested an amp, as well as to tell him to try some amps out. But the way the thread was presented, some indirected opinion should not have upset anybody.
Don't jump to hastily to opposing opinions, even if they are "underdeveloped" and in a not-so-serious thread. quote |
dudey5691 wrote on Apr 23rd, 2008 6:13pmwas it worth posting after one month?
Spiders are good for you, I don't like them.
End of story.
Who gives a fucking shit
I'm not trying to be an opinionated asshole, trying to tell everyone that the amp/guitar/whatever I have is best because I've owned it, and no opinion is valid without ownership. I was just saying that with the time I spent playing the amp, I was incredibly disappointed...that doesn't mean you should listen. You are not going to be a martyr by rebelling against people who shoot down the Spider, so don't try to be.
There's a bunch of people who throw out bogus opinions, and half the time it ends in argument.
Case and point.
Internet argument = nothing quote |

Line 6 does make some awesome amps (Vetta and Flextone), but I think that the Spider series is just not worth the money. For me, the sound is waaaayy to digital and hissy. The Vetta is better, but I still do not like the whole digital application. Why pay $300 for a SS amp, when you could easily buy a used tube amp of [most likely] better quality?
I have played one, a guy from the town a few miles out owns the 120W version. I don't like it. It shouldn't really matter, my decision is made.
I'm not just hopping the bandwagon like 80% of UG, I have tried it and it ceases to impress me.
Although, the cleans and effects are plentiful...just too much for me. quote |
