If I'm searching for a tab I personally always hope and pray its in either Powertab or GuitarPro format, Normal text tabs can be great, but rarely indicate important factors such as timing in the same way these other formats can. Another fantastic feature is that you can actually play the music and therefore pick up the song or any tab faults alot faster.
I started writing in Powertab... it's free and my trial of guitarPro had run out so I didn't have much choice.. I have since got hold of a full version of GuitarPro and much prefer this program now as you can tab the whole song.. drums and all which can be used as a backing track. Amazing.
It has struck me that by using guitarPro there may be people who will not be able to read the tab as they don't have the program.. What are peoples thoughts on this? what is your favourite format? do you have guitarPro or not? would powertab versions be better? should UG allow duplicate tabs in different formats?
Just really a blog to say I really wish more people would leave comments on mp3's, tabs, profiles etc. Is something good? do you have any constructive critisism? a request? It's great to hear people's comments especially if its praise (obviously)
...but seriously it gives you a boost and if you subscribe after leaving a comment maybe whoever you write to will take it on board and upload something you really like!?
I know if i hear something good i'll always rate it well and leave a comment for a bit of kudos for the effort.... hell try it it'll only take a second and you could seriously make someones day!
Just a thought about the community on here. I found it really hard trying to find anyone on here I might want to communicate with in any way, I have only just realised that you can actually search for people with a similar taste in bands by putting the band name into the 'interests' section of advanced search. duh.
Thought i'd post it up in case other jeenyus's didn't realise this either. give it a go.
