Somebody help a beginner

Current mood: confused

I started using this site a couple of days ago and i have some questions.
What format should the pictures of the gear be?I uploaded the personal pics with jpeg but instrument pics writes wrong format, i tried bmp too still no.
Do you know a site where i can download a program for recording sound in mp3?
