Favorite bands :
Where do I begin? Damn - Okay, I like the Roots, Rage Against the Machine, Queen, ACDC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, Metallica, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Funkadelic All-Stars, Grateful Dead, Cream, Beatles, Morris Day and The Time... Look - we can do this all day, but let's put it like this - I'll listen to ANYTHING that doesn't suck!
Favorite guitarists :
Steve Vai, Shuggie Otis, Eddie Van Halen, My boy Jimmy - he's a talented fuck.. , Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash... Once again - big ass list. Leave me alone.
Where do I start? I have found myself in a place where now, in my thirties, I have the aptitude to learn and play music - it somewhat came out of "nowhere" seeing as how I couldn't play ANYTHING with strings at a younger age. I stuck to the horns - I didn't even have the dexterity between my arms and feet to be a decent drummer... guess I'm a late bloomer.
I got my first guitar as a gift last year, and I've been studying music theory and practicing since then. I take long breaks, but they're definitely worth it - I come back with new vigor every time, and I'm thankful that there is so much out there to help those of us who are learning - as long as we're resourceful enough to find what we need..
Speaking of resourceful, just as a side note - I'm getting my guitar equipment free nowadays - I won't harp on it, but you can too by visiting P2S and becoming a member... (I'll be adding a Zoom G1XN Multieffects Processor with Expression Pedal to my "equipment list" soon).. My resourcefulness also landed me here, of course, and I'm glad it did - I'm using the "guitar pro" files to my advantage, inside of a great program called "Offbeat Guitarist" - it allows the user to learn to play using a video game-like interface. It's the best I've come across so far, and you can find that on the product's website - http://offbeatforum.com/content.php -- it's available for download in the forum section - FREE! Don't sleep on that one! Learning to play guitar with a scrolling fretboard is perfect!!
