Favorite bands :
Absolutely love all of these and you can probably hear influences in the things I play and make up from all of the bands mentioned here...
Bon Jovi, Status Quo, Led Zepplin, ZZ Top, Metallica, Queen, Oasis, Snow Patrol, Black Stone Cherry, KT Tunstall, Franz Ferdinand, Rod Stewart, Shinedown, Nickelback, Dire Straits, Maroon 5, James, Morrison, U2, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, The Darkness, Extreme, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, The Proclaimers, Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, Kings of Leon, The Police, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Simple Minds, Sereophonics, Thin Lizzy, Foo Fighters, The Script, Guns N' Roses, Kaiser Chiefs, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Meat Loaf.
I could continue the list forever but the ones above are the influences that occasionally crop up in my own creations and are the writers/performers of songs I love to play.
Favorite guitarists :
Slash, Richie Sambora, BB King, Brian May, Nuno Bettencourt, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Joe Satriani, Gary Moore, Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Chris Rea, Chuck Berry, Mike Oldfield, and Niel Young to name a few.
Favorite bassists :
Bass is just a simpler more boring version of the Guitar. Besides, nobody remembers the Bassists!!!! (apart from Sting... and the poor guy that got run over by a metallica tour bus, he was great, and his replacement ain't bad either... the dude with plats in his beard!)
Favorite books :
Don't really read much but if I do it'll be a hugely supernatural scary one involving lots of unexplained ghost encunters; my favourite to date would be Amityville Horror. I also read the Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy collection... gotta love Douglas Adams!
Favorite tv :
Not a huge fan of watching the box religously but the only programmes I try to keep up to date with would be; Top Gear, Hustle, Jonnathan Ross, Spooks, The X Factor and most definately every televised race meeting of Speedway... come on the Hammers!
Favorite movies :
The Life of Brian, Team America, Mission Impossible, James Bond, Star Wars, The Italian Job, POTC 1, 2&3, 300, Hot Fuzz, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, Die Hard, most classic comedies, anything that's generally a well made film... and not High School BLOODY Musical!
About Six-String Stew
Howdy!
My name's Stew Pink, I spend most of my time being creative in some way and the remaining hours in my life getting subtly drunk. I've been rockin' for 10 years, consider myself to know almost everything that can be learnt about the musical "technicalities" of the guitar and feel quite at home on a stage with one of my beautiful Italia guitars.
Although I'm no Joe Satriani I can improvise a pretty good BB King style rocked-up blues to almost anything. I've come up with some gut-busting riffs in my time and play in a style that expresses melodic perfection as opposed to fast fret-work. I don't sing but constantly improvise lyrics to my songs. I love a good medley of an old song in a rocked-up style and have quite possibly the most diverse musical taste ever observed by iTunes!
