this tiny folk guitar
http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/jonathanonfire/ pictures/gear/142919/
that my mom bought for me.
she also bought herself an acoustic guitar, which later i smashed out of anger during a squabble with a girlfriend at the time. anyway, my mother wanted to take lessons from some dashing young spanish fuck she knew though her church and so, i tagged along a tried to keep a straight face during his lessons. eventually i lost interest but then later i came back to it, and picked up bass as well. i'll always remember her, dear "gunner." my first geetar. it's sitting in another room, collecting dust. hooray! =]

I remember getting my first electric guitar, it was an Aria stratocaster style guitar. the action was kinda crap but it was an awesome electric blue, which was better than the common sunburst, black, or red! i got it when i was 16 when i had the choice of getting a new bed or a guitar. best thing my mum ever did i think to contribute to my interests!

Well, my first instrument was drums when I was little, I have no clue who made them but I know that they were black, lol. My first basses were a 1976 Fender Fretless P-Bass, and a Custom Carvin 5-String. They aren't starter basses, I had been playing for a few years before I eventually got them. I had been borrowing a bass from a friend beforehand.

quote

iplaydabass wrote on Apr 17th, 2008 9:53pm

Oh, and that bass was some 80s BC Rich bass, not one of those crazy looking ones, it was a bit like an Ibenez style, but it was a really good bass too.

mine was an Epiphone Les Paul Special II that i bought for $75 it had fallen off the rack at a store and got a couple scratches but still sounded the same as the others so i walked out with my first guitar and I wouldn't ever sell it. Everytime I look at it it reminds me of the hours/days/months/years or practice

My very first guitar is the Black epiphone SG im playing in my pic, presented to me by the mailman on my 16th birthday. My dad having played and still playing took my interest in guitar quite seriously when I mentioned it one day on the phone, and he bought me the model of the guitar I said I wish I could afford from some music store in kentucky, super wrapped it to ensure safe shipping and bam! my musical life began

.... I forgot my first INSTRUMENT was a violin in middle school, given to me by my parents because I excelled in orchestra

I still pay attention to her daily I love her

Haha! that would be a $100 guitar courtesy of Wal-Mart lol.

It was a Christmas present, and my dad figured I wasn't going to play it that much... so he decided to start me off with a cheap one lol.

I have no idea what the brand is though. But I do still cherish it... even though it's been missing a string for Lord knows how long lol.

Well, I was hanging with two of my mates who happen to be brothers, and one of them plays guitar and the other plays drums. So they started having a bit of a jam, playing some songs I know, and I found it really awesome and wanted to join in, but couldn't as I didn't know how to play any instrument. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to learn to play guitar. This was near the end of grade 10. So my parents bought me a $120 Martinez nylon-string acoustic guitar as an early birthday present.

There, that's the story behind my first axe if anyone cares to read it.

a vinatage gibson from 1942. the story goes that my grandfather and his war buddies were in a pawn shop at the start of WWII, a then someone shoves a pawn ticket into his hand. not knowing what it was for, he exchanged the ticket and found it was for a guitar. 60 years later, he gives it to little ol' me, and i start playing guitar. theres a pic of it on my profile. its called "darkside".
