MH400 wrote on Aug 18th, 2009 10:07amI guess it's for tourist-y reasons. I've only been in NZ for 8 months, so I still have a lot to see. I really want to go up the Sky Tower, though.
And yeah, I'll let you know if I visit. Maybe meet up or something? quote |

juckfush wrote on Jun 2nd, 2009 8:05amDarn tootin'! I managed to listen to more of his works, and I'm more than impressed. Don't quiz me on their titles, though :
I'm going to be re-writing an old math piece I've had lying around - some of it will probably be lent to the Circle of 12 Tones a lá Jarzombek, once I study up on it a little more. But I aim to do so melodically, of course! And I might end up employing the 12 Tone System, too - my music teacher has asked us to research either that, or some other forms of avant-garde/unorthodox writing procedures. So I might as well try it!
And of course, there will be more of the traditional Alex-esque *prefix*rock stuff for you :
Probably won't be on msn for a while - Physics has me. I'll message you here when I can, though. =]

juckfush wrote on May 31st, 2009 10:51amHey hey! Unfortunately I'm due to be off, but how's things?
I'm making progress with writing by the way, adding some embellishments and extended ideas here and there - though I'm afraid my approaches are leaning too much toward jazz oriented ideas =\ Sowwy. =[
But, nevertheless, I'll keep attempting to write some more proggy sections - most likely more instrumentally based, though I will attempt more general song based ideas - concepts we can have vocals and melodic ideas over.
I hope all is well, and feel free to drop me a line when you can. As I said, I'll be off for the night, but I should be on during the week while I do mah physics!
Take care and take it easy,

juckfush wrote on May 15th, 2009 6:29amAh, not a problem. I see we're you're coming from then =]
I'll do my best to write more over the next couple of weeks - I'll be expanding on what we have, notably.
Take it easy! quote |
juckfush wrote on May 14th, 2009 9:39amGot your messages, no worries.
I'm just a little concerned about the deadline you're suggesting to implement - why are we making one anyway? I don't really see the rush with completing an album, that's all - especially considering our situations and lacking thereof! :haha
I'll be online on Sunday, I think. I may have to get an X-Ray done tomorrow, and on Saturday I'll be with Jen - so I'll be available on Sunday, most likely.
Hope you've been well, take it easy! quote |
juckfush wrote on May 11th, 2009 9:22amAlex filing - complete.
I may not be available for a couple days, so please contact me on my profile if you need to. Sorry for the inconvenience, and for hindering progress. quote |
juckfush wrote on May 8th, 2009 2:19pmUpdate!
Adding some Jarzombek/Portnoy esque drumming to Fun With Sparklers! Much better than before =] There are now ever so slight traces of polyrhythmic concepts, and syncopation is developing - within reason, of course :
I've edited the piano furthermore, and I'm presuming you'll be requiring twelve fingers. I'll edit the score so that it may be divided between two separate staves for ease of playability =]
Next on the agenda - exams are over! Unfortunately, I won't be able to play seriously until my wrist heals completely, so... writing will recommence! I'll be sure to upload any of the worthwhile updates or additions to already existing segments, and of course any new worthwhile ideas =]
Ciao!

Xiaoxi wrote on Mar 3rd, 2009 4:56amThanks for your input on my music. I have to point out that I'm sort of straying away from the rock/metal style of playing so I don't know if I'll ever make anything like Shades of Grey again, but whatever I do I'll do it well. quote |
radomu wrote on Feb 7th, 2009 11:00amSorry for the late reply.
You know, I would love to post myself recording Greensleeves, but I'm not good enough yet.
I can only play the notes by individual melody, without picking the lower strings to play rhythm.
I'll post it when I get better lol... quote |

oggiedoggy wrote on Feb 3rd, 2009 9:33pmI hear you, I like learning as many guitar skills as possible too even if I don't use them in songs of my own. I'm no complete metal shunner either, off the top of my head the song "The Whicker Man" by Iron Maiden? I think? great song. I tried doing music technology as my major at first, but the music professor said I was typical guitarist - could play/read from guitar tabs but couldn't read sheet music. Oh well... Best of luck to ya if you decide to try music in college.

Aren't you mature. I must accolade your wonderful arguments, I mean, you can't argue with something like that. Seriously, you show so much ignorance it isn't funny. Try listening to Nickelback properly. I hate to say it but Nickelback is probably better than the terrible obscure metal bands you listen to who get by regurgitating harmonic minor riffs in drop A with some endless blast beats thrown in to make it that much more br00talz. Listen to something like Follow You Home and tell me they suck. Sure you might not like the music, but they can write music whether you like it or not. Why don't you go around and tell everyone how Mozart is crap aswell?
I was piddling through the comments on the page I got that off of and saw your comment. I must say that was a brilliant comment. I don't get people's hate for bands that aren't sweep picking 24/7 and instead create a good melody. Haha I tried music tech. in college...didn't work out so well (still in college)

juckfush wrote on Jan 29th, 2009 6:17amHey champ. I got your ridiculously long offline message, and I'd just like to say I think those virtues are astounding. You definitely have everything mapped out in numerous aspects. I can't come online tonight, as I REALLY am in need of rest, and to practice all my techniques and songs. But on Friday, I will most likely be online. I'm sorry to keep you waiting, but I will DEFINITELY make time to talk to you and discuss everything you told me in those messages.
Looking forward to a great chat

juckfush wrote on Jan 26th, 2009 12:55pmSorry dude, part 3 Thank god for MSN, ay?
In respect to your comment on wanting to make a solo piano album - it can be done! With Water Colors, I uploaded the two version - one with multiple instruments, and one with solo piano. By using the concept I explained above, I ravaged the guitar harmonies and simply transferred them to piano. When it came to writing the guitar harmonies, however, I made sure to have the foundation, and a slight recurring factor - a simple rhythmic progression, and a simple melody. Piece of cake! Next, I played it back and heard the extended harmony in my head - Track Two - and finally the classically based melody - T3. And there I had it. I strengthened the melodic theme, and placed another one over it - therefore expanding the dynamics, due to the size of the harmonies, and progressing the song as a whole. Then I just transferred to piano Hope this helps at all!
My MSN addy is anarchy-industries@hotmail.com - I made it a few years back, haha.

juckfush wrote on Jan 26th, 2009 12:54pmThanks for the compliment on Penguin Hockey At the moment there's no fresh ideas or concepts, but I'll be sure to keep you up to date with its progress.
Personally, I love using multiple layers. As I said before, more harmonic possibilities become available, as well as texture, and a greater overall concept, if only for a small portion. I find with extended harmonies, either provided by grouped chords, or counter melodies - as I prefer to use - fresh ideas are more prone to spring out. We may notice one particular segment in a bar we like, for example, isolate it, and find it to be a beautiful harmonic texture. Thus we may utilize it in a different respect, or even couple it from other harmonies the stand out in the section. I find this way, we can establish whole new melodic concepts, while somewhat revisiting earlier portions - therefore igniting a familiar sensibility for the listener each time, while progressing the song furthermore, and creating contrast. Hope some of that makes sense. quote |
juckfush wrote on Jan 26th, 2009 12:42pmAh, yes yes. We've already confirmed ours', but I want to change mine up a bit. At least going to this will give a better shot though, and I hope it goes well. Which subjects have you selected, by the way? I'm going for Advanced English/Math, Music, Modern History, Legal Studies, and something else to fill the void, haha.
On the topic of music, you've made a very valid and mature point with the concept of having possibilities within the combined product you're working on. Even a single idea can act as a trunk, and branch out into more detailed, and finer portions That's the way I like to view it. And with your decision to acknowledge multiple genres ans stylistic origins, the freedom is available to delve into the depths of other zones and retrieve something amazing. It's magnificent that you're so open to music as an entity, rather than analyzing certain organs quote |
