Hmm...

Current mood: blah

For months upon months now, I've been looking all over and doing all sorts of research to figure out what guitar I should buy next. I currently only own one guitar (My Dean Vendetta) and I got a cheap knock off of a Fender Strat for free from my friend a couple months ago. The only cool thing about it is that it has a tremolo but it's obviously nothing to be taken seriously seeing as how real Fender's aren't even anything to be taken seriously (lol Burn). But anyway I gave that guitar away to a friend of mine when I moved.

So back to what I was originally saying: I don't know what to get for my next guitar. I know I want an LTD but I'm caught between four different models.

Ever since I discovered the LTD KH-602 siggy model, I've fallen in love with it and I've wanted that more than any other guitar but I just can't cut myself off completely from the other three I was taking into consideration quite yet.

The Alexi 600 (Signature model):
The first model I had my heart set on before any of the others was the LTD Alexi-600 with the black on white finish. I've heard plenty of great things about this guitar and V models have always been my favorite (As far as looks go)... And then I played this guitar. Being a guitarist who plays sitting down a lot, and anyone who has ever played a V sitting down before can vouche for me on this, when I say that they're completely impractical to play and should really only be used as concert guitars. Either that or you can try to get used to playing one sitting down. Maybe it's just me but I just can't do it. My other issue with it is that it has no neck pick-up and only a bridge pickup. Everyone says it's not a problem but I really feel pretty limited not having a neck pickup. Honestly I don't use one much anyway because I generally hate the distortion you lose with them. And the fact that neck pickups cover up lots of mistakes when soloing. That pisses me off when people make "amazing solos" with only the neck pickup. I'd just like one there to know that I always have access to more versatility if I need/want it. But this guitar is still my favorite of all in the looks department. Anyway, moving on...

The LTD MP-600:
For those of you who don't know about this guitar, this is the Michael Paget signature model. I wanted the LTD version over the ESP model of this guitar because I honestly hate the graphic on the ESP one. It doesn't fit the guitar. But this guitar interested me because 1: Michael Paget is one of my two favorite guitarists, 2: BFMV is one of my three favorite bands and 3: I had found a V-guitar that had two pickups (EMG's to boot). The thing that killed this guitar for me was that I first expected it to be around $500 but it was instead $1000, and again, the shape makes it impractical for me to play and most of all, it had no floyd rose or any kind of trem system at all for that matter. On top of that, my given reasons for taking it into consideration weren't really sufficient enough for buying it. This is my least likely choice of guitars that I'll get or maybe even no chance at all that I'll get it because of something that I discovered yesterday...

The black LTD MH-1000:
I was floating along the ESP site yesterday and noticed they had a couple new fall models. I came across this guitar and was pretty interested by the specs list on it. It seems pretty similar to the KH-602 and for a ton cheaper right...? Wrong. I looked at the price of it on musician's friend and if I remember right it was about $1000 or so. The KH-602 is $100 more but if I'm going to be spending that kind of money, an extra $100 isn't much difference for something I'll like better, even if only slightly better.

Now, if you're still here, I applaud you. Not many people these days have this kind of attention span. I didn't even mean for this blog to be so lengthy buuuut... It is, sooo...

The LTD KH-602 Signature Model:
This guitar has interested me and impressed me the most of all. It's got a couple of EMG 81's in it, an original floyd rose and everything else imaginable for only $1100. I haven't heard a single bad review about this guitar and people even say that it's underpriced. My only problem with it seems sort of petty, but if I'm going to be throwing down money in the range of a thousand dollars, I care a lot about how my guitar looks. It really doesn't have much to it for looks. Don't get me wrong, I do love the look of this guitar; a lot more than the MH-1000 but still, it has a real plain black finish, a lot like the guitar I own currently. Now maybe, that's a good thing. Maybe the lack of extravagance and fancy designs adds to it's badass-ness and sort of adds a sense of mystery to the guitar, which I like. Plus the inlays on it are super badass :D

So honestly, I really have no issue with the KH-602 siggy model and that means it should just be a no-brainer on what to get, shouldn't it? Well, it should, but I can't bring myself to fork over this kind of money quite yet when I haven't even played any of my other choices except for the Alexi-600. Then again, I haven't even played the KH-602 either.

Anyway, all advice on this matter would be well-appreciated, especially from people who have experiences with one or more of these models.
