Hi, my name is Phil and I play bass. Until a couple of years ago I didn't play anything but almost entirely with the resources available on UG I managed to teach myself.
In my twenties I did a lot of work as a sound engineer for a number of bands. I've promoted gigs and run stages at festivals, worked briefly in a recording studio and made a living for a while building and designing PA speakers. I had a gloriously mis-spent youth.
I am a science graduate and was a science teacher. Most of my contributions are technical and my obsession is speaker design on which I can be very geeky. It does mean I will cheerfully to answer any technical questions on speakers. PM me with questions if you want.
I play with a covers band Wet Playtime, 'covers with a twist' our leader says though the twist is most of the right notes in roughly the right order. After just 2 years playing what can you expect. We've a female vocalist and play our own versions of songs rather than trying to do exact copies so most of my tabs will be for songs for female vocalists.
