Dude definitely added you to MSN!
And me, a legend? Please man, I see you all over the forums; I never use those things! And that's how you spread your name! And you've got a Dean! XD

Things are good man! I'm dating this new chick now for sure. She's like five feet tall and Asian. very easy to make fun of. How's life with you? Apart from the usual slow-at-replying business?

Hey dude... haha your drummer looks stoned in that pic you have on here :D

No worries about replies man, this is the first time I've checked UG in like a week. I'm on here every day for news and stuff too. The only reason I have to not check is laziness. So...

But yeah man new Metallica is pretty good! Nowhere near as good as the fourth, but I like it almost as much as TBA, which was still a sick album. Better than anything since, without a problem.

Apart from that, I'm good. I'm doing half days of school and work plus managing a band and friendships and I'll be honest, I'm already worn out and I've only been doing it for a week. I don't know how I'll last a year.

Dude the album is good. Nowhere near as good as the first four albums, but good! I'm happy with it!

And Trivium's new song = some of their best work. Although I wish the mix was a little crisper; the mixing on the Crusade was great.

As for life, it's good man! I started school and work this week! I'm pretty busy, but I'm having fun. Might have another girlfriend within the next couple days. But yeah, it's all good man. How's life for you? School good?

Dude, the new Metallica album leaked! Heard it yet?
I gotta say I'm impressed. They're back. I didn't think they could pull it together.

Well, I can always change both of those. But the only reason I wouldn't get the DFH is the obvious nature of the paintjob.

Delanoir wrote on Aug 31st, 2008 7:16pm

As much as I like Trivium, I'm not sure I'd get the MKH due to the band's logo inlay and on the headstock. I actually like the paintjob.

The DFH does look really cool though, I was going to check that one out, as well as the '79. I'd get a time capsule if I could afford to drop another 2+ grand, but sadly I can't.

Cheers.

Thanks man, I love it. I'm actually GASing for a good ML right now, even if the Rhoads will always be my favorite.

You see, the difference between you and most other Dean Razorback users is that you make it look cool, instead of the kids who try that the other way around.

Seriously? You never got to leave during your breaks before? Holy crap man! That's kind of balls; I've been doing whatever I want during my lunch breaks for four years.
On the plus side, you've got a bunch of girls across the road :P

Yeah, it sounds like you've got all those issues sorted out. Definitely get a Macbook. They're expensive though. I got the second-worst Macbook available in terms of specs, and it cost over $2000 CAD after I bought an external hard drive and a case and all that stuff.

Nathan_393 wrote on Aug 29th, 2008 1:43am

Dude I'm doing decently well! School starts back up for me next week though, which kind of sucks.

And I love my Macbook! It's an incredible machine!
But one thing I can warn you about: if you like games, get a Macbook Pro.
The other thing is that you'll need some sort of preamp to record guitar with if you plan on using Guitar Pro to record decent files, as it is only an entry-level (albeit very good) program. I don't have one yet, sadly.

By having people who play different styles in your band, your sound can end up being more varied. I think it all has to do with the word "tasteful", but it's one of those things that's hard to understand, so you needing clarification doesn't make you an arse at all :P

quote

Nathan_393 wrote on Aug 22nd, 2008 6:04pm

The New Metallica song is pretty good indeed! I listened to it around 5 times yesterday; didn't like it at first but liked it more as I listened to it more. I hated the production though. The drums were really clipping.

Well, tasteful generally means that you're not going to go over the top. For example, when it comes to tasteful, my definition is solos that aren't constant shredding. Melody, to me, is always tasteful in metal. But another person might think being tasteful is constant shredding - it's whatever is important to you, pretty much.

So you tell a death metal player you're interested in writing tasteful music, and he'll interpret tasteful as "non cookie monster vocals" or whatever. And then he might join you. That's what I told the members of my band, and I can see that they're all putting a little bit of their definition of "tasteful" into the band too.
