Hey. Sorry if I've asked you about this before, not sure if I have or not, but how do you like your Ultra +? I'm considering getting one, or a XXX soon.

Selling my 5150 and getting either of those plus a 4x12 to be more precise.

If possible, I'd really like to know how it compares to a Marshall DSL.

i love my ultra! I only paid like 200 for it too. Its a great amp. i find its got plenty of gain for pretty much anything. I've used dsls and mesas that i've always boosted in rehearsal rooms etc that i felt all needed a boost for tightness but this is already fine right just right off the bat.

Its a good amp i've never got a shot of the triple x although people say the xxx has more gain and the ultras a bit clearer sounding obviously i cant give a direct comparison but the ultra+ is a really good amp especially for what i paid.

:haha: Get it signed twice? Or by the rest of the band? Or at least your ticket. I'm still pissed Travis left like 2 people before us.

Also... your new profile picture is making me jelly. :(

I own 1 ValveKing. But yeah, I have a VK, a 5150 & a Vypyr =P Why?
Just asking. If you generally like the VK you have now then you should really like the 120 head. More headroom and it will be much louder than what you have now. You want strictly Brit like tones and no cleans. Personally, I think the tubes really warm up the Plexi and Brit models (as well as the others) but if that is the tone you are going for you might be better off with an EL34 based amp. I would not count out the Windsor head for what you play. What is the heaviest you would ever need?

311ZOSOVHJH wrote on Apr 28th, 2011 11:34pm

do you really own two Valvekings, a 5150 and a Vypyr 75?

Man, "'worst-bucker pros' " made me laugh pretty hard.

I don't really need cleans... Mostly just looking for a decent British amp for classic rock tones, etc., as well as newer alternative British tones like Manson, etc.

I'll probably just stick with the Vypyr. You can't really beat it for how much it does. And it's an unbeatable practice amp on top of that.
The Windsor 100 is cheap too and may prove more reliable for gigging. Start a thread - I'll help bump it along.

311ZOSOVHJH wrote on Apr 28th, 2011 3:58am

I've played the Windsor on several occasions for maybe 30 min total. Pretty decent amp but limited in tones. But it has a all tube no nonesense feel. The Vypyr tube is completely different. Obviously more versatile. The thing I don't like about the Vypyr is the over complexity and some of the tones are a bit fake sounding. That said, I was VERY happy with the tones I got on the 'Brit' and 'Plexi' models. Much better than I expected. That was with very little tweaking too. And I have stock 'worst-bucker pros' pickups in my Schecter. Listen to the Brit and Plexi clip I have and some of the others out there on youtube and go from there. Obviously, play them both -but if you need cleans the Vypyr tube will win.

How responsive is the Vypyr 60? How sensitive is it to things like different pickups/guitars, pick attack, etc.?

Hey. Well, I have only really used one guitar so far but I would say the sensitivity is above average for an amp in this class. You can hear some of those nuances in pick attack, harmonics etc in my clips. The Nad Test 4 and Deluxe Reverb clips in particular.

NWFT is the first album my friend bought too, actually. Not sure if he's bringing it to sign. I really wanted the SSTB comic collection but it was $30 I couldn't spare. I have the soft IKS comic collection that I got signed by him at ComicCon so I think it'd be lame to get that done. xD

Yeah I nearly shat myself when I heard Portal 2 was going to be full length. Part of the beauty of Portal is its simplicity, and length could stale that, but I trust they make it exciting for a full length if they start from the bottom up.

... then again I'd probably pay full price for just a really long Portal game. :haha:

Pink Muse wrote on Apr 23rd, 2011 10:45pm

Show's Monday... if it were more local there'd be a chance of it coming that day and me having a chance to wear it, but we're going to Boston, so we're leaving early morning. I'm going to try and bring my Les Paul pickguard in so hopefully I get a chance to get that signed.

How is Portal 2? I want it, but I've been trying not to spend money. :haha: With this paycheck I'll get SOCOM 4 if PSN is up, but Portal 2 is calling my name too.

Pink Muse wrote on Apr 23rd, 2011 8:00pm

I'm also really really glad I didn't blow most of my paycheck on the new SOCOM game, since PSN's been down for like 3 days now.

Pink Muse wrote on Apr 23rd, 2011 7:59pm

Already got a head start on that. :haha:

... but I actually have.

I'm also pissed at MerchNow. I ordered the shirt over 2 weeks ago and have neither recieved it nor heard about it. I called today to cancel the order so I could get $20 back, and apparently their phone lines close Saturday. So now I have neither shirt nor money. :\

Pink Muse wrote on Apr 22nd, 2011 3:12pm

Oh fucking hell yes.
I'm so close to buying the SSTB hardcover comic book... if I didn't know I'd have to buy food and shit for the trip I would. :haha:

DavidRayT wrote on Apr 15th, 2011 2:42pm

Oh. My. God.
I could just die now. That concert was perfect.
I mean, it sounded even better than the Nevender recordings. And it got even better when they started passing joints. ;) haha

DavidRayT wrote on Apr 14th, 2011 1:21pm

Yeah man! Have you seen the setlist?
I'm pretty disappointed there's not a single In Keeping Secrets songs, but that's probably because they're doing IKSSE3 Nevender in 2 years. But it's gonna be sick, my first Coheed show.

DavidRayT wrote on Apr 12th, 2011 9:16pm

Dude, SSTB Neverender in 2 days. So stoked.

You should check out my Al The Killer cover. :D

Ah, I read they were closer to 200's, which is why I shunned the idea. And something about the rosewood fretboard on it just looks... "off". Should be ebony.

It seems so, I don't know him, he just commented. Haha

And I saw that on Facebook. Is it better than the first one?

Well I've only played one of the $500-$600 Grassroots Snappers....the pickups were "bland" and the trem was as good as one would expect for a $500 guitar. But I would say it's better than a 200 series.

And a lot of guitars should have ebony...a lot :P

So far so good. It makes a tad bit more sense story wise but most of it just feels like the old game :P

siverstorm wrote on Mar 24th, 2011 4:40am

Lol yea, Grassroots are nice. Comparable to LTD 300-400 IMO but if you can afford the Edwards...mang

Also reading the comments on your profile, Seth Shadows looks like another one of "us" the ESP/Peavey/Mesa fans. lmao

And yea I know what you mean. If I didn't have uni to worry about I'd probably have bought a Vypyr tube 60 already. They sound surprisingly good for the price :P (Or even a Mesa express :P )

But I did get FF Dissidia 012
