By the way when I said "new ones" I was mainly speaking about the Dt700 all of the other newer destroyers I've seen are low end models.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you I haven't been on for a while. "Suck" isn't exactly the right word for the new explorers. They just aren't that similar to the old ones. Last I checked the high end one was like $800 US. You could get a primo one from the 80s that was the tried and true sound behind priest, maiden, and def leppard on ebay. for less than that. My dad owned an 80s Ibanez destroyer II which was the low end bolt neck model and it was awesome, I can only imagine what a real dt555 is like. I've played a lot of 80s Ibanez guitars and their spectacular.

So I guess what I'm saying is if you want an Ibanez destroyer, you're better off getting a real one, but if you want one for heavier stuff the new ones might be a better bet because they have the D-Activators. Also, if you do wind up getting an old one avoid kahler trems because the springs in it will most likely be worn out and you won't be able to stay in tune.

sorry if I didn't respond in time but cheers nonetheless.
Brian.
