Let's see... My name's Ali, I'm 17 and I live in Glasgow, Scotland, and I mainly play the old bass guitar. Other than that I'm a compulsive liar, obsessive to the extreme and a self-confessed pseudo intellectual (though I am a member of mensa... so there). I'm in 6th year at school, and then I'm off to edinburgh university to do economics and accountancy... woo!
My interests include crystal meth, luring toddlers into my van, and destroying the infidels.
Go to my bebo, it's basically the same as this but with nicer colours
I have an unhealthy obsession with drums, despite not being able to play them and not having a drumset, and I struggle to stop myself from tapping on every avalable surface. It does, however, mean I like making the drums in all my songs more than anything else. I probably spend too much time on the computer and the guitar but that's life. I've been tinkering about with garageband and come out with around 10 songs (no lyrics, I can't sing) which I'll get around to adding, and any constuctive criticism would be much appreciated
My Musics
- Unusual Suspects
Fairly repetitive I know, I need to work on adding more fills, but it's so much easier to just record something once and loop it! The drums are pretty much the only thing I like in this
- Progression
One of the first things I tried to record, it's pretty bad quality because I was using the computers effect settings rather than an effect pedal, and you can hear the phone ringing at one point Also, I'm ashamed to say that the drums are all garageband loops. Still though, it turned out ok-ish by my standards
- Fritter
Just a quick thing I did while messing about, don't plan on adding anything to it, just liked the riff and wanted to record it. I tried messing with drumset effects, which was amusing but sounds a bit too home-studio for my liking, though it made this the first heavy-sounding song I've done, which is nice.
- Sidelined
I quite like this one actually, this is when I started to use get the hang of distortion The drums may well be impossibly to actually play but in case you hadn't noticed I tend to overdo it a bit. I do plan on coming back to this sometime and adding more, maybe a decent solo or something.
- Eyes
It wasn't until I finished recording this that I realised the intro is basically the start of 'The Way It Is' by The Strokes. Which really annoyed me, cause the rest of the song is totally different, I just wasn't being quite as imaginiative as I thought I was I'm gonna have to change this soon before people start bitching. Other than that I kinda like it, decent riff, ridiculous drum solo, keyboards, it's got everything! When I can actually play that solo at the end I'll re-record it properly.
- Red Leather
This is one of my favourites, and probably the easiest to listen to as it's got some catchy parts.
