Don't know if you've checked out the old school Swedish bands like Entombed, Grave, Dismember...that stuff. Bloodbath is a fun spin-off of that style of death, with Åkerfeldt from Opeth on vocals.

There's no need to lecture me on how to gather/write information. I found that bit to be a tad condescending too, for no good reason.

There're scenes outside of CA too, and I've heard plenty of bands pre-dating WoP utilizing the same style of breakdowns.
