I haven't been playing guitar for too long. Started in March of '06 with a 6 year old borrowed Fender Squire. After a few months I started to get some more gear. Got an amp with some crappy overdrive, also borrowed and about as old as the Squire (I think they came in a starter pack). Next came my first distortion pedal, a DOD FX69B.
By the end of the summer I wanted gear that I could call me own. By January of '07 I got MY first guitar. I chose a Jackson JS30RR and a Line 6 Spider III 75w. I was very happy with my decision but after about 5 months, I swapped out the bridge pick-up for a Dimebucker I got off ebay for like, $40. Very happy with the sound. My next piece of gear is gunna be the Line 6 Floor Pod.
Most people hear that I haven't even been playing for 2 years and assume I suck, which compared to most people, I absolutely do. But considering I've been playing for less than 2 years, teaching myself and playing at the most, 2 hours on a good day, I would say I'm pretty good. I just set small goals and work towards them. The first song I learned was "Animals" by Nickelback. To this date the hardest song I can play from beginning to end is prolly "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains. For someone whos been playing for 10+ years, that's prolly laughable, but for a guy who's been playing as long as I have, with the little time I have to play, I consider it a major accomplishment.
I don't plan on being in a band or anything, I play because I love music and it feels great to play riffs and leads I listened to when I was 15 and only dreamed about being able to play.
