Hello everyone, my name is Dennis Teets. I was born in Oct. 24, 1992 and have been playing Guitar since September of 2008, self taught and almost nearly isolated mind you. I put myself down as at best an average Guitarist, and my passion is Metal, specifically 80's American Thrash Metal, but I love almost all with Guitar in it. My sense of humor can range from Fun like what you get with animated family comedy films, or Cynical, like George Carlin. Satire is also a comedic love of mine, anything that makes fun of Film, Politics, Religion, Society, and the Human Condition, I'm down for watching it. Usually not too huge a fan of Vulgar humor, but occasionally that stuff can be fun, too. I do love South Park after all.
As for who I am personally, that's a hard one to answer, I haven't yet figured that out. I try not to judge others these days as I myself am far from perfect and therefore not really qualified to do so. I dislike the Hypocritical "Holier Than Thou" people, so I don't want to become that. I've been there before and didn't like it. I can be a bit of a self righteous bastard, though, with a lot of opinions on what I believe is right and wrong, some many wouldn't agree with but what the hell do I care? However, when I say I think something is stupid or wrong, I tend not to partake in it. If I were ta say something like, "Eating sugar is wrong!" Well, I wouldn't eat it, then.
My favorite band I'd have to say is Metallica, really. They have been a huge comfort band to me and have helped me (along with some friend's help) through some of the worst anguish over the years in all of my fucked up glory, so Metallica have a place close to me. So, because of this, I am a Diehard Metallica fan. I haven't come across any other band that even comes close to sounding as good as Metallica. No other band has that same effect on me. I'm not saying Lars is the greatest drummer, Kirk is the greatest guitarist, or even that Cliff was the greatest bassist. However, when all the musicians of Metallica get together, as a whole, they make some of the greatest music. Not the most complex (though I will point you to And Justice For All for a complex album) but it doesn't need to be incredibly complex to be good. MOP is my favorite album, for those wondering, followed shortly by AJFA and RTL as a tie, and KEA after. Garage Inc. then the Black Album, Magnetic and St. Anger are tied too, and the Load albums are tied last (though I still love those, too.)
This is from an official source, my Guitar God's book here. I knew all of this before I got the book ofc, but it's still cool.
"Kirk Hammett was weaned on his older brother's extensive Hard Rock collection, which included albums by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and U.F.O. Inspired, Hammett picked up a Montgomery Ward catalogue Guitar, hooked up with vocalist Paul Baloff and formed Exodus. The pioneering Thrash band later supported Metallica and in 1983 he was invited to join the group. It wasn't long before Hammett had made a name for himself in the Guitar community via his incendiary scalar lines in solos such as Fade To Black from 1984's Ride The Lightning. Two years later, in 1986, the band released what many believe to be their Magnum Opus, Master Of Puppets.
In 1987, Hammett began a long and fruitful association with ESP Guitars. With his signature Guitar in hand, Hammett laid down some of his scariest lines to date on Metallica's 1988 release, And Justice For All. But it was the band's 1991 Self Titled release that enshrined Metallica as the REIGNING KINGS OF METAL. Ironically, while the band finally achieved mass commercial success, Hammett's blusier, wah-drenched soloing approach saw his stock drop among some in the guitar community. But his 2007 endorsement deal with Randall amplifiers and ESP's limited-run 20th anniversary Kirk Hammett model Guitar proves that HE MAINTAINS HIS RELEVANCY, while Metallica's 2008 album, Death Magnetic, was largely hailed as a return to form."
FACTS and HISTORY don't lie. Metallica are the greatest Metal band in the world. Kirk isn't the greatest Guitarist (compare him with Vai or Batio, Petrucci or Randy Rhodes) in the world, however is still an Amazing guitarist never the less.
