Wahey, the UG profile is coming along quite well! . Ill have to get some more friends added but its looking good. Don't know whether my recording device for my guitar will work with this, but its worth a go
Well, i figured i needed a use for my blog, so here it is. Im going to start reviewing video games. And the first on my list? Crash Mothaf**kin' Bandicoot!
Crash Bandicoot 1 was released as one of the earliest games on the Playstation console, and was intended to be it's version of Mario. Did it succeed? Well, yes and no.
The graphics are lush, of that there is no doubt. It has just been released on the playstation network over here in the UK, and playing it on my PSP seems right, it doesn't feel dated at all. The gameplay is also solid. Theres a lot to keep it entertaining for a while. The music is good, if a little monotonous at times, and it really fits the stages.
There is something however, that pissed me off royally about this game.
The "perfect" system.
Now, the perfect system is a means by which you can complete the game 100% by breaking all the boxes on a level and not dying once. Sounds fairly reasonable, but unless you've played the game you have no idea of the frustration i speak of. Slippery climb, The Lab, The Road to Nowhere, memorise these level names well, because they are BASTARDS!!! And if you do have the patience to sit there and do all this, you would expect a reward, and you do get one. Is it the bazooka from crash 3? No. Is it the bellyflop or slide ability you see in crash 2? No. Its...
SPOILER
Crash on a bird for 90 seconds.
END SPOILER
Pointless, totally pointless. Aside from the pride factor, why bother? Thankfully, this was fixed in the later Crash games, although it seems to be a series that is dying out now.
Overall, i can't say its a bad game, because the truth is, its a wonderful game, but that jump at the end of the Road To Nowhere when trying to get a perfect will haunt me forever...
