As far as I know, Vaders aren't stocked in any stores, anywhere. They're all direct.

Avatar and Lopoline are worth a look as well, cheaper but get the job done and sound great as well.

How about earcandy? I heard they're good. Vader cabs are beautiful man, love the logo. But all I see on youtube is people playing death metal, and their artist page is nothing but teh br00tulz lol. I mean i'll be playing high gain shit, but not all the time is that all theyre good for?

I actually got the opprotunity to try it out today at the Sam Ash on 43rd and Cactus. Yeah the cleans were pretty good, but the distortion was just lacking something.. maybe I didn't set it right or what. But it just didn't sound as good as the 6505. Yeah the ultra channel wasn't very good at all, I just used the crunch. That's also an issue, I know i'll be selling it sometime or another, im jsut gonna wait for the 5150 II haha. Thanks for the advice man.

I want something that sounds great for high gain shit (thats why I was gonna get the 6505+) But still, I love cleans and all that shit and I loved the cleans on the JSX. I heard that the XXX is just a beefed up version of the JSX? And I can get a XXX head for 600 right now.

Scratch the comment about the Ultra XL being voiced more like the SL+. because I think my cab (very midrange-heavy, something I didn't know cuz I haven't played this head through other cabs before) pushed more mids into the XL's sound, making it more SL+ish.

On the Top Boost again, it's really versatile, I got to play with one for a while and loved it, GREAT classic rock tones :D

Sweet. yeah I think I'll go with a Grail. Possibly get something a bit lower gain for the other module. I really dig the SL+'s lead sound, will probably use the Grail for rhythm and then get something else so I have a little more versatility, maybe something lower gain, Plexi-ish or AC30-ish, no idea haha.
Well, there is the Top Boost, which is a nice mid-gain Vox sound (think Brian May), and an actual Plexi module, but it's hotter than you would think. The Brahma is closer to an actual vintage Plexi, in that it doesn't have as much gain, but you can get both heavy AND clean tones out of it. Also, if you want a much cleaner Vox sound, the Super V is also based on the AC30, but doesn't have as much gain, and the Top Boost can, of course, be modded to be cleaner with more highs like the AC30 with the top boost engaged.

Although, you may still find the Ultra XL is voiced similar to the SL+ (I notice I can dial them in to sound almost exactly the same, but the Ultra XL is gainier and has a bit more balls to it)

I'm good at soldering, I just don't want to screw it up haha.

I'm guessing it's the JCM800 one, it would have to be a newer model since the guy I got it from said he bought it new in '08. Plus, the sound I'm hearing sounds more like the JCM800 version you explained.
Sweet :D Yeah, I could imagine the XTC and SL+ being similar (since Bogners are based on Marshalls), and the 1086 really sounds best with it's mids set to the Marshally side :p I'd definitely check out a Grail or Ultra XL if you want some different sounding high gain sounds :)

I honestly have no idea if it's a newer one or older one. I didn't know there was a difference lol. I know it's not modded though.

Yeah, I've been giving the mods a look on that forum for a while, but I dunno if I trust myself doing them lmao.
You can tell if it's new or old by the voicing :p Does it sound more like a JCM2000 DSL (scooped out mids, massive bass) or a JCM800 (tight bass, more in-your-face mids, but not overpowering)? The SL+ modules from 07 and 08 have the JCM800 components :)

Got any friends who are good at soldering? :)

lol, i took the picture right after I brought it home, that's how the other guy had the 1086 set up, I agree, wtf haha. I do have it slightly scooped I think, as I think that module sounds best like that, but not like it was in the picture!

The RM4 is awesome though. I really want to try out some more modules though, I want a blackface module, either the recto or grail module, and something else. I really like the SL+ module though, so I think I'll keep that one. For now though, they're pretty cool, just I have 3 high gain modules and they all sound pretty similar, though I like the SL+'s voicing most. The clean is pretty cool, but it's too warm for my tastes, I like a bright, chimey clean, so I think the blackface will suit me better.
Is it an old SL+ or a newer one? A few lil mods here and there bring out best sounds :) And the Blackface is an amazing clean :D
Do you know about the MTS forum? http://mtsforum.grailtone.com/index.php
