I am 13 years old. My favorite genre of music is unquestionably metal. I spend all of my spare time either in school, playing guitar, or in the pit. I haven't been on UG for about 2 months, so most of you newbies won't know me and you UG veterans won't remember me. I don't generally enjoy listening to rap, mainly because of all the mainstream soulja boy crap that's killing the music. There still are a few good rap songs, but there are seeming to be less and less every day.
The thing I like about metal is that it has a whole lot of various types. Though most people who dislike metal think it's the same thing every time, I find it very unpredictable and fun to listen to. Plus, it can get really loud and have a really cool eat-your-face distortion along with some shredding.
I like rock. If I ever need a break from the distortion or the aggression, rock is always there for me. In fact, one of my favorite bands is Alter Bridge. (For those of you who don't know, Alter Bridge is basically Creed without Scott Stapp and with a new lead singer). There is also usually more melody in these songs.
Country... meh, it's alright. Sometimes there are a few acoustic riffs that are just plain neat, which you see a lot with Charlie Daniels. However, though there are a lot of good country singers, there are a good share of bad ones. I'll admit Carrie Underwood can be pretty good sometimes, a lot of these wannabes of her are making her look bad because of their lack of talent.
Rap and Pop go in the same category for me. The older kind of rap and some rap today that seems to hide behind the mainstream crap is okay. The rest, as I said, is crap. Pop can also be good and bad, but I don't hear it enough to comment.
