To me, "hot" and "heat" have slightly different connotations. "Hot" is more immediate, more active, while "heat" is more like a state of being.

I agree from a physics point of view it sucks.

I always think in physics... when I first read that I was like, "OH dear christ. There are so many things wrong with that statement." lol.

From a physics standpoint, everything.

From a literary standpoint... I thought it was ugly. Heat tells me hot. Hot tells me heat. Telling me both is like telling me you are slapping me with a tuna as you slap me with a tuna. I just thought it was way over the top.
