On one of the online communities of which I form a
not-so-valuable part playing a not-so-valuable role there is a man who writes.
This man is known by all and is a regular contributor, being awesome in both
skill and humor he is quite deserving of all kinds of groupie-ism and because
of that I am a tad jealous. And it’s not so much his style but rather the fact
that he has built for himself an ethos of followers, a steady group of
commentators and critics who comment commendably regularly. This short and unnecessary entry is a tribute
to that man who has reached hundreds with his insightful and funny articles and
stories.
The first story which I read left me rather unimpressed
and with a certain bitter taste in my mouth. For some reason I didn’t like it –
the voice in my head said – you‘re much better than that, you can write better
stories, recount better tales! This however was a crappy argument since all
writers are different, in many ways, and he has found a way that works for
himself and others, and for that I honor him.
He’s the reason I started being active, not that I’m that
active (but at least it’s a start), on said site. I haven’t got the response I
so yearn for, yet, but one day I shall be kinda like him, but not like him.
His columns are relatable, funny, and just plain cool.
This is a tribute to the man, the legend, the ineffable
(I’m not sure what that means, well I kinda do, but I don’t know how to
describe it), strangely relatable, and immensely talented Nolan Whyte!
Write the rock on!
