So awhile back I got into Origami and paper folding after I saw this. So I started folding sonobes (these are the pieces that make up that ball) and I first start on easier models such as cubes, then moved to stellated octahedron, then the stellated icosahedron, then finally stellated truncated icosahedron (AKA "The Epcot Ball"). Below are two images, one without my hand, and then my hand added to sort of show to scale how big each model is.
Here are the shapes. The largest ball is the Epcot Ball, 270 sonobe pieces used to make that sucker. On the left of the ball is the stellated icosahedron, and on the right is the stellated octahedron. In front is, if you haven't guessed already and have lived in a cave for your whole life, are 4 cubes.
Above is just an image showing a comparison to my hand. The cubes are about the width of a penny if that helps put it into perspective.
So next I moved onto some real origami, like cranes, and water balloons. In my next blog I hope to finish making the Kawasaki Rose, the newer version and post some pictures.
Hope you enjoyed the images and reading this, if you bothered. Thanks for your time.
